I was given one for my birthday the other day, but I think I'm using it wrong..

Could someone help me out ?

Turn the unit on. Let it heat up for 5 minutes. Take out some bud, and pretend you are going to roll a joint. Take half of what you would put in the joint (or less) and put the herb on the plate--so about 0.3-0.5 gram. Start inhaling as soon as you place the herb down, even if you don't see vapors. Remember, you are looking for vapors, not smoke, so if you do see smoke it's too hot, which is why you let it heat up for 5 minutes and then inhale as soon as it hits. You can "shake" it a little to get even heating on all sides, but when it starts turning brown, like hay kind of, it's done.

Indeed, I did try using those first, no fear.

Do I keep the carb blocked or no? Should I be tasting much? Cuz I don't taste anything at all for a long time, and then it tastes like smoke, so I know I've gone too far. How long should it go before I need to refill?

It just doesn't seem to working very well for me, and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've used the exact same model before, and it worked VERY well, so I know it works, but he was the one doing everything and just told me when to start inhaling, so I dunno how to set it up very well, I guess.

it took me awhile to get vaporizors to work well

if you leave the m on the burner too long it will get "burnt". the part about vaping is that it's supposed to heat the m until the THC vaporizes out of the bud at some temp. you can tell the bud is burnt by it's smell, the smoke & it's black color.

now I use a little egg timer to know how long to wait. correctly vaped bud will be dry & crisp & brownish, so I like to start with think gooey buds that produce lots of vapes

and for me the vapes feel different. bongs like walking into brick wall very quick feeling vapes start different

and I use more stuff with vapes than bongs thats a different thread

and vapes also taste different. I know I'm getting the vapes because I get zippered & can see them thru the upside down juice bottle

I would add is that you should break up the weed more finely than you would for rolling a joint. The finer the better. In vaping you want as much exposed surface area as possible.

I've had much better results with the type of vape that has you draw heated air through the weed (convection), rather than putting it on a hot plate (conduction). You seem to get much more thorough extraction of the THC without any risk of burning the weed (if you get the temp set right).


I see no reason to keep the carb blocked. Unless there's a strong breeze in the room only a tiny amount of vapor will escape.

I usually get a taste like hash oil from the first couple of draws on a fresh load. That's also where I get the most visible vapor on exhale. But just because you don't see anything doesn't mean there's no potency. I turned off my vape with what I thought was an exhausted load still in the whip. When I turned it on a few hours later I took a draw, just to see what would happen. I got off on it.

I'd keep drawing several times beyond the point where you think anything is happening. It's not painful, it doesn't cost anything, and it doesn't hurt your lungs to be sucking warm air. All the literature says the weed is exhausted when it turns brown but I've gotten very high off of weed at that stage.

And if your bud is turning black you have the vaporizer on too high, it should only turn a hay-like color, so an off-brown or yellowish-brown. You're just vaporizing, not burning
