I would guess that steam is probably less harmful to your body than smoke is. I've never had problems with my vaporizer. I know people who forgot to let it burn off the chemicals on the heating element before use, which led to a s*itty taste and probably isn't too good for you

So is the vaporized material harse on the lungs? Harsher, than say uncooled, unfiltered MJ smoke (like from a pipe)?

The "smoke" that comes from a vaporizer is much less harsh than you would get off of a regular pipe, Smokey. The issue here, as previously stated by killerz, is whether or not inhaling the hot dry smoke that is produced by the vaporizer is bad for you in the long run. And I'm not sure if it's the fact that it's hot that makes it bad, or if it's the fact that it's dry.

I don't have the answer to this question and I don't know if there have been any actual studies that will provide a good answer. I have a feeling that if you were to smoke out of a vaporizer for 20 years and then compare your lungs with somebody who had smoked pot in the conventional manner and gotten just as high for 20 years, the difference would be obvious as to which treats your lungs better. (hint: It's the vaporizer)

The advantages are very obvious. No combustion of material occurs, therefore less carcinogens are formed because combustion does not occur. Less tar is formed also due to the non-combustion process.

Another advantage is that you don't have to smoke as much to get where you want to be versus regular smoking. So, you smoke less and what you do smoke is MUCH less harsh.

Here's an example of how "clean" the smoke that comes out of a vaporizer is. I have smoked probably 1/2 ounce out of my vapo since I got it and I have yet to clean the stem that I use. In fact, I see no residue at all inside it. If I would have smoked the same amount out of a one-hitter or a regular pipe in the conventional manner the inside would look very nasty.

Also neglected in this whole argument is that there are many, many methods of cooling down smoke or adding moisture to it. Although I've never tried the heatgun method with a water pipe, I'm sure it would work. You could also just get a long piece of tubing that would cool the smoke on it's way to your lungs. I know we've got some inventive people on these boards due to all the homemade gadgets I've seen. If it is a problem for your lungs, somebody on these boards will fix it somehow.

Also, it isn't steam. It's vapor. If it were steam, then there wouldn't be a problem with moisture because steam, according to dictionary.com, is the vapor phase of water. We are dealing with the vapor phase of THC and other dry materials. As to be even more clear about what we are talking about, here is what dictionary.com has to say about vapor.

Hope this helps you all out in figuring out how a vaporizer works. I wish somebody would do a good study on this.

I'm starting to get worried about all of you that are smoking out of whatever you find laying around your house. So I decided to make this so that none of you permantely injure your self.

Now I didn't invent this method, in fact I found this exact design from overgrow.com, thanks to gizzmo.

Instead of making a tin foil pipe make a vaporizer. its very simple and better yet, healthier for you. Take a 100w lightbulb, the clear ones (if you have the ones with the white powder youll have to get it ALL out by sticking salt in there and shaking it around). Now take a sharp knife and cur away the metallic end of the bulb. Now take a scew driver or some other long object and scrape away the extra layer of glass and pull out all the things inside of their so you have an open emptied out light bulb. Now find a cap of some sort, ive found that soda caps from like 2 litre bottles work pretty well. Now you are gonna wanna take a knife or something and cut TWO holes into the cap almost near the edge (opposite of each other) now screw the cap onto the light bulb cover one hole and blow into the other hole, if air escapes youll have to wrap tape around it so that none comes out. Now take two straws and stick them into your holes (if the holes are to small make them bigger). One of the straws should be cut short the other kept at a longer length. Now close up any remaining air leaks with tape or caulk. Once this is done, take the cap off the bulb place your bud along the bottom of the bulb and place the cap back on. now take your lighter or whatever and light along the outside of the bulb until vapors start to come off, if the bud starts to smoke you held it to long, now inhale through the longer straw. the other straw is only their so you can actually inhale.

anyone else here save thier vaporized buds? I do and i just took like 4 big bong hits and im really stoned right now. they seem to burn for longer too


i also tried a vaporizor hit through the nose a few days ago, i could really tell the difference. it was fun

1) vaporized means u used a vaporizer, meaning there is no longer any thc in the bud. so what exactly got u stoned?...

2) u said u noticed something when u smoked it through your nose, is it better or worse? whats it like?

vaporized weed lasts longer than smoke weed. when i use my vaporizor i put a pinch of a bud in about ( ) that bid, and i vaporize it untill i start getting stoned then i put the bud in a film cansiter and save it for later, my buds are TOTALY vaporized, they still have a big of green on them and it got me pretty stoned

and the nose thing, the high was fresher and i was more jittery than normal, it was kinda nice. and i used a vaporizor before so i know the high you get from them is different but the nost hit high was different too
