| I would check with Volatizer to find out about battery cost and installation. User replaceable, I would hope. It's been awhile since I read those posts. Can't remember some specifics. I do know this one doesn't give you many hits per load and it won't win any taste contest. Money back guarantee if not satisfied but no mention of warranty? But if ultra stealth's your priority and you can afford it...

The Inavap isn't well known, but it seems to be solid vaporizer at a good price. They offer a money back guarantee, so it looks like a safe purchase. Another good one that wouldn't require a voltage converter for the UK would be the Vapolution. It's one of my favorites for taste and efficiency. You can find a short video or two of it in action on youtube. A whip vaporizer basically uses direct draw. You use lung power for air flow and use a glass bowl attached to tubing. You hold or attach the bowl or handpiece to the heat source. Generally, vapes like Inavap or Vapolution could be considered a whip vape, although the Inavap apparently doesn't use tubing and the Vapolution can use a glass straw instead of tubing. Direct draw would be a more accurate term. The other main type would use a fan or pump to fill a bag with vapor. Once filled, the bag frees you from staying with the vape for your session. With a bag system, you gain consistency of hits and the loss is thicker vapor and better taste, which you get from at least some direct draw vapes. The most popular bag vape is the Volcano. You can also get less expensive bag systems like herbalAire and Vapir.

Well, one week later; I have received the Oxygen Mini--seemed like the most econonmic and easiest way to try vaporizing, and I had the recommendation from djelimon. I have to say....I have gotten down the operation--I think--I read instructions, tried it several times. I called the Vapir Cust. Svc. People for help. But is it working? I can''t tell. I taste the taste....feel some heat. The herbs get a little toasty looking. But I do not feel what I feel if they were used in a bong, say. I also don't understand, do you re-use the "duff" (what Ihave read the leftover crunchy herbs are called). How do you know if it is "played"? I tried an experiment and took the "duff" and used it in a bong, and felt the effects immediately. Does that mean it didn't work in the Vaporizer?

Make sure your temp is in the vaping range. Here's a reference for temp Cannabis Vaporizer Study Your remains (never heard it called 'duff' before) should be brown (but not black-too much heat) and dry. If they are, you should be getting THC. There may be a little THC and other cannabinoids in the remains (depending on the vape used and how well cooked it is). You can smoke the leftovers, but if you're vaping to get away from smoke, I'd save that for a rainy day. Vaped weed is better left to cooking-maybe cannabutter. It's possible your temp is set in the right range but if you're hitting it too hard you're dropping the temp-maybe too much. Minimizing your air flow will maximize your vapor content and taste. With smoking, a hard hit will get you more smoke. With vaping, a hard hit will get you less vapor (at least with direct draw). If your vape is in working order, you should be able to get good results with the proper technique and temp range.

Is it possible I might not recognize, a different kind of 'effect' after the vapor vs smoke? Last edited by mdgirl : 10-06-2007 at 10:38 PM.

I don't see how you could miss it. It's just a cleaner dose of THC. Not as much of the drowsiness that you get with smoke. Have you tried setting the temp at 400? It's a bit hot for the cleanest vapor, but if you don't get vapor at 400F then something's wrong.

I set mine to 350 F wait for the green light before you put in just a pinch of powder - not too much. Inhale slowly - if the light goes red, stop. Exhale through your nose. You should smell something like a bag of if herbs. maybe get 4 - 5 good lung fulls out of that. Two pinches for a credible buzz. But this depends on quality of the material at hand, as well.
