Hey guys ive had a VaporDocs vaporizer for some time now....long enough for a nice amount of resin to build up in the whip, I am currently scraping most of it out with a paperclip, but i was wondering if anyone else has heard of using plain rubbing alcohol to get the unscrapable bits out and then letting the alcohol evaporate, will this work?....any advice is appreciated

Yes it will....what i always saw done was i'd put the isopropyl alcohol in the smoking apparatus....shake it up a bit....then you would dump it on a plate. You then light it on fire...make sure you're not gonna burn anything down! It burns off the alcohol and you're left with resin. Then ya scrape the crap off the plate and you can smoke it.

Rubbing alcohol will do a fairly good job. What I do is tie the two ends of the whip together with a piece of string. Then I hang it over the shower head in my bathroom, making sure that both ends are at the same height. I fill up the whip with rubbing alcohol (I use 90% isopropyl) and let it soak for a few hours. I dump the solvent into a flat-bottomed glass pan, refill the whip and again wait a few hours. Dump it again and let the alcohol evaporate.

You can scrape up the resin with a single-edge razor blade.

This doesn't do a perfect job but a pretty good one. To completely clean the main glass part of the whip I remove the plastic tube (use hot water to soften the plastic), remove the screen, and push alcohol-soaked cotton through it. Torch the screen to clean it or put in a new screen. To clean the mouthpiece thoroughly I use an alcohol-soaked Q-Tip. To clean the tubing, thread a needle and drop it through the tube. Tie a little wad of cotton to the other end, dip in alcohol, and pull it through.

I just cleaned my whip with a single dwell for 2.5 hours using 70% isopropyl alcohol, usig Buzzby's method of stringing up the whip. Looks real good now. Not 100% but near close. Definitely good enough for me to skip a second dwell or trying to wrestle the glass apart from the plastic. Just make sure all the aclohol is evaporated out, or flushed out with water, before inhaling again. My screen looks like new. I can'twait to use it again now that it's clean. Already, I can feel less resistance through it when I just inhale through it when empty.

I've developed another technique since writing the last post.

After scavenging all the resin using alcohol, I mix up a cup of boiling water and a little dishwashing detergent. Dip the whip into the solution and suck up enough to fill the whip, then blow it out. Repeat until the glass is as clean as you want it to be. This eliminate disassembling the whip and torching the screen. The method gets everything very clean with a minimum of fuss.

Perfect. Great idea. I was so NOT looking forward to having to take the whip and screen apart. IT's funny. I did s similar thing to mine after the one alcohol dwell and rinse. I didn't use soap though, just plain warm water that I'd fill the whip tube with and then forcefully blow out. Maybe that helped as well. Anyway, I'm so happy to see it looking so fresh and clean again.
