| Hi, i recently discovered that vaporizers are fairly reasonably priced, and they seem to be much more attractive than glass water pipes. time for some questions: -do vaporizers use mj more efficiently? -is there any difference between highs ? -any side effects of using a vaporizer? -what is the best vaporizer? the models of vaporizers i found: 4thc.com/ members.shaw.ca/Fosheezee/Fosheezee/ vaporizer.com/index.htm vapie.com/index.html marijuanavaporizer.com/index.html rxdirect2u.com/products.html {Moderator Note: Please do not leave physical links to commercial sites.} | |

| Hey, let I'm not an expert but let me see what I can do for you: -do vaporizers use mj more efficiently? I believe this is going to have something to do with the quality of the vap, but I believe vaps generally use a little more weed than a pipe/bong -is there any difference between highs ? not to my knoweledge -any side effects of using a vaporizer? Instead of all the nasties in bud, you're just inhaling tHC vapor...so its a lot easier on the old lungs, and of course any side effects that you believe tHC can cause (hungriness) then obviously yes -what is the best vaporizer? don't know |

| first, I've never used a vap before, so take what I say with a grain of salt. But from what I've read: 1) You tend to use more pot in a vap to get high (assuming a standard level of "highness" - whatever that is) than a pipe or bong. 2) The high is different. It has been described as a 'clean-headed' high. You don't tend to feel as 'dopey' or lethargic or burnt-out like you do when smoking a lot of weed. 3) It is definitely, without a doubt, healthier for you than smoking. Most of the nasty stuff in pot (stuff that's been flagged as carcinogenic (sp?) ) is only absorbed by your lungs when you smoke (burn) weed. All this stuff is safely left out when you use a vap. | |

| I have read that particle inhalation is the biggest health risk associated with marijuana. I believe this and could only encourage you to get a vaporizer. You should be able to stretch your MJ dollars by 20% or so because vaporizers are more efficient as a delivery device. This may be because if you smoke MJ your lungs will not be able to absorb the THC because your lungs are coated. If you have good clean lungs your body will be more efficient in absorbing THC. Yahooka had a link to a site that could tell you how to build a vaporizer although I could not get the link to work. And now Yahooka does not work because of hackers. Be sure and check Yahooka when it gets back up. I suggest the following link and maybe you can come back with your thoughts. http://www.rxmarijuana.com/faq.htm#vaporizer | |

| So it looks like there is a conflict of opinion regarding the efficiency of vapourisors. Anyone else want to chime in? I'm also thinking of buying one. ~BD

| hmm. i already posted this in the other recent vaporizer thread, though i meant to post it here. thats the last time i **** around with the back buttons when writing a post. anyway, here's my post. as said a vaporizer's efficiency varies upon its quality of design. Most use more weed than a normal pipe, but some use less. There are several types, though. A soldering iron The soldering iron type, which is any type that uses a heated object like a soldering iron to conduct heat to weed in a bowl that is attatched to the iron, thus vaporizing the THC once hot enough. These vapors are then collected by a dome or some other way so that they can be inhaled. These are the generic vaporizers. They are most common. They work well, especially if made by an actual company and not by you, but they are not the best type. The soldering iron vaporizers not made by you can be more efficient than pipes, but the ones that are made by you wil most likely be less efficient than pipes A crack pipe These use a flame or heat source to heat a bowl or glass tube with weed in it, like the first type, but instead of collecting the vapors in a dome, they are inhaled directly like in a pipe. This can be good, but the effectiveness varies with the quality and design A heat gun This is the best kind. Air is heated to THC's vaporizing temperature (this is debated. its said to be from 200-400 degrees Fahrenheit, but i think its around 380-430 F), and is drawn through finely chopped herb, and the resulting vapor is inhaled like in the crack pipe type. When done correctly, this method is MORE efficient than any flame operated method. The best version of this vaporizer is the Eterra (do a search on any search engine, and you will probably find its site). it costs around 150 dollars american, and is easy to use. If you only wanna spend 40 dollars american, you can make your own with a heat gun, which can be bought in the painting section of a hardware store, and a bowl with a little bit of finely chopped weed in it , by using the heated air from the gun where the flame from a lighter normally goes, but, it is hard to do. yeah. i hoped this helped. |

| it uses about the same amount of weed as a bong does. you get about a bowl pack into a vap and you'll get some good solid hits. but the smoke is similar to crack smoke. it is much lighter and tastier. however the marijuana burns up rather quickly compared to smoking out of a pipe. also, the buzz is far cleaner as many people have written about. for me, this causes me to smoke more because i get less lethargic, and as any pothead knows there is a point where you smoke enough weed quick enough, you start to feel strangely and sometimes you don't feel good at all, including having headaches. i believe this has to do with the chemicals in the smoke. on the vap i can't explain it something about the high is missing that i am used to feeling, but it's not the good things that are missing. i am stoned and feeling GREAT. i think it is the lack of chemicals. i feel a noticeable difference in the high. kind of like the noticeable difference you taste when you drink water from a tap and water from a purifier. |

| I guess a majority of people don't have a lot of first hand experience but vaporizing takes much less weed than smoking. It is far more efficient than smoking b/c burning weed destroys some of it. I have heard many vape owners say that weed will last them teice as long when vaporizing so I bought one about a month ago and they were right. My first bag lasted me almost exactly twice as long as normal. I just bought some more and this stuff is so good and fresh that I think it will last me longer than that even. As far as the high goes I felt it was much more intense at first. Now that I am used to the high it isn't as intense but still really good. I am very happy with my vaporize, I feel healthier and it will save me a ton of cash in the long run (it has already saved me $100 in just one month!) |

| good responses 5drive. so is vapor the same thing as steam? is it basically boiling the THC?? If so then why does drier weed not hit as good as fresher weed? THC doesn't evaporate in noticeable amounts so wtf is the deal. And i know the tip to put some fresh fruit (orange is what i use) peels in the bag to redampen it. im just curious why dry weed doesn't vaporize as good. is it the THC sticking better to the extra water vapor? if neone knows a good answer or is wondering-high like me thanks! |
