| This has worked well for me using the flameless heat tip; it is also portable: http://tritekelectronics.com/detail.aspx?ID=47328 |

| Hold it really far away from the bud I guess? I don't know, I would just buy a vaporizer if you want to actually vaporizer. It's a neat tool for other stuff around the house though.

| A Phedor is just a device to light a bowl without using liquid fuel or butane. Quote:

| use the flameless heat tip so little butane is inhaled. It is soooo much smoother (no coughing) than using a lighter & I believe more efficent as the bud is not burned. Also, at its price point, i believe you get more bang for your buck. The nozzle is adjustable ergo the temp of the flameless heat tip is adjustable as well. |

| You could achieve the same results with an electric soldering iron or any other intense heat source. If inhaling butane is a concern, light your bowl with a match or a burning piece of wood or a candle or anything besides a lighter. I'll keep my soldering iron for splicing wires, thank you. |

| Burning any kind of hydrocarbon fuel produces water vapor and carbon dioxide. Incomplete combustion produces soot, carbon monoxide, other combustion byproducts (tars), and unburned fuel. Hold your lighter under a glass and see what's deposited there. I favor torch-type butane lighters because they seem to burn the fuel more completely. I rarely smoke pipes or bongs, partly because of the need to re-light them. I smoke joints (light once) or use my trusty vape, which simply passes hot air through the weed. While some people swear by wooden matches for lighting their cigars, I prefer the torch butane lighter because it's cleaner. |

| Soldering irons are usually not portable. What other intense heat sources to do you recommend? Matches, pieces of wood, and candles are cumbersome to use. Soldering irons are usually used to solder wire and components together, not splicing wires. _ 0^0 |

| that soldering iron you posted is butane fueled. defeats the whole purpose of trying to find a lighter that doesn't need butane. |
