Sorry if this has been covered, but I've searched a bunch of threads and couldn't find anything...

1) I bought a Vaporbrothers last week and I think I've pretty much gotten the hang of it. At first I wasn't getting any visible vapor but after playing around with the temperature, I've found a good setting....sort of. See, I'm getting good hits, but I'm finding that the weed goes brown after the first 1-2 hits. Is this normal? I'm pretty sure I don't have the temp set too high because most people say set it between 10-11 o'clock, but I've had mine set at about 9:30 and it seems like it's crisping the weed too fast. Should I be getting more thana couple of hits before it goes brown?

2) I've been saving my ABV weed to cook with later on, but I was wondering, since I've already vaped a lot of THC out of it, will I need to use more than usual in cooking to get a good high? Actually, it's probably pretty obvious that I will, but any idea how much more I'd need to use?

You should get more than 1-2 hits of a properly packed bowl. I think you're weed might be to dry, or you're not packing the whip right.

The ABV weed DOES work for cooking, you just have to use more...and the high will be very, very sedative and stoney.

In addition to dryness, some other factors to consider:
How long are you exposing your load to the heating element before you hit, and are you removing it from the heat after you hit? It does make a difference.
How long does a hit last? After a couple of deep breaths, I can easily take a 30 sec. hit on a fresh load, which is obviously going to pull more heat through the load than a 5 sec. hit.
How much are you hitting? The quantity in the bowl is personal preference. With a whip vape I usually prefer a smaller amount if I'm vaping alone. With a larger amount the weed closest to the heat gets vaped first, but it also gets hit again while you're trying to get vapor from the far end of the load. Even with temp control, the longer the weed is exposed to heat, the more it's going to cook. You can put food on/in a stove on low heat, and it'll still burn if you leave it long enough.

To answer your questions, I only put it to the heat when I'm hitting. In between I keep it off. A hit lasts about 15 seconds or so and then I give the vape at least 30 seconds to reheat.

As for how much I'm vaping, when it's all packed down it comes anywhere between a layer covering the screen and 1/3 of the chamber full.

Also, I really don't think dryness is a factor. My weed's actually a little bit on the moist side.

The problem I'm having is that when I get a good vapor hit, the weed goes brown in just a couple hits, but if I turn the vaporizer down to a point where the weed stays green longer, it doesn't seem like I'm getting anything. No vapor, no taste...

Cool, any idea how much more I should use though? 1.5 times as much as normal. Twice as much?

Your heaviest vapor comes after the THC has been mostly or completely vaped. I know what you mean about not seeming like you're getting anything. You can certainly turn the heat down low enough so you don't get effective hits. We tend to associate choking on a cloud of vapor with getting good hits, but vaporizing is not smoking. I can start up my vape, take one hit, exhale no visible vapor, but definitely get a buzz. There is a learning curve with any whip/box type vaporizer. You just have to experiment.
