i dont really have any experience with heat guns. your need a special bowl to use one? mabye if like it has to fit onto the bowl you could make some kind of attachment that goes on the heat gun and the bowl. like mabye some kind of cone mabye from paper or somthing.

What if instead of putting the heat gun inside a bowl persay you put it under one to heat up the glass and vape that way?

| Heat guns can be awesome for vapes! The problem is, you need a variable temperature model, that allows you adjust the temperature to a certain degree in order not to produce combustion. Some models have selectable temperatures, but only at 450F or higher. These model also usually have aluminum and not ceramic heating elements. It seems that in the vaping community the gun from gotvape dot com and the Steinel HG 3002 are the "kings" of heat guns. This is what the Steinel HG 3002 supposedly offers: "Steinel's flagship model the HG 3002 LCD is the Porsche Twin Turbo of heat guns. The digital temperature display tracks the real-time nozzle temperature while in use..." Vape bowlpieces for GonG and grommet/slide bongs can be bought pretty inexpensively..it's deffinatley somthing to look into IMO.

Like DaDornta said, the ones with digital readouts are the best. But if you're careful you can make a cheap one work. You'd have to heat up until you smell that unmistakeable odor of vapor and/or see some visible vapor. Then the hard part-reapply heat for further hits. Your best bet is to do one hitters.

The problem with holding a too-hot gun away from the bowl is that you'll lose most of the vapes out the top of the bowl. You want a gun that fits snugly over the top of the bowl. I've tested out my vriptech vape bowl with three heatguns: A $10 harbor freight model which I modified to put out less heat, a Wagner $40 heat gun from Lowes on the lowest setting (lowest speed), and a Steinel 3002. The lower cost guns worked okay, but I felt like I was losing some of the vapor because they didn't fit quite right onto the bowl. The Steinel heat guns actually are exactly the right diameter to slide just inside the bowl by a quarter of an inch or so, so they make really tight contact and don't let the vapes escape. The wagner and harbor freight guns are slightly too wide to fit into the bowl, so they just rest on top. I've been using the harbor freight one and Wagner one primarily... my experience with the Steinel was just a one time use. I liked the Steinel enough that I ordered a Steinel 2310 ($160-$190) which is their new top of the line model replacing the 3002. What's cool about the Steinels is that the temperature control is totally accurate and fast... with the cheaper guns there is no temperature control, so the gun gradually gets warmer with use, and so you have to take slower puffs at first and then quicker puffs as it gets heated up, and you have to carefully monitor what's going on because you can burn the herb. With the Steinel you don't have to worry about burning the herb. The cool thing about a heat gun is that you can do anything with it: I've taken a vriptech VCB bowl (jet-flo 12mm style preferred) and a downstem that normally holds the bowl in the bong, and used it to fill a bag. Just get some toppits bags like you use in a Volcano, and rubber band one end to the downstem. When it's filled up you just remove the bowl from the stem and inhale through the stem. What about this setup is better than the volcano? Several things: You have the temperature control to be able to vaporize oils and other plants that require higher temperatures like 500 degrees F. Many people think the big heat gun gives better temperature stability than the volcano (for more complete vaporization). And you can increase the airflow to fill up a huge bag quite quickly if you desire... good for parties. Because it is an all glass system there is none of concerns over health or cleaning that you get with other vaporizers. And importantly the $160 heat gun, $50 VCB bowl, and $17 stem together cost much less than half of the cost of the Volcano for a better system! And of course you can get the purest vaporization experience possible by using a VCB bowl (or I've heard okay reports about the gotvape bowl) in an ice-filled bong, with water level just below where it would bubble. The heat gun has more temperature control precision (10 degrees versus the volcano's 25 degrees F per step), and because you are only using a very small amount of the 1600 watt power, it responds faster to temperature fluctuations so you can get it as hot as possible without any danger of burning it. This heat gun and ice bong setup really beats everything else hands down... nowhere else can you get the pure vapor, cooled to make sure it won't irritate your lungs, and with all the herb dust filtered out by the bongwater. And with perfect temperature control. The only disadvantage of this setup is the hassle (filling with ice, etc) and the cost ($160 heatgun plus $150 for bong). The high that you get from vaporizing is indeed different from smoking. If you read these forums you will find some who prefer vaping, some prefer smoking. The vape high is more cerebral and about moving around doing things, whereas smoking tends towards a trippier, lay around kind of feeling. I used to smoke Sativa strains, but with the Vapes I am experimenting with more Indica strains to counterbalance the inherent headiness of vaping.
