Default Am I stupid or what?

So I've had my vapo for like a year now, and I've been buying real good chronic for about half a year now. And .3 grams had always been perfect, last about 45-70 minutes, which is a long ass time, I could only turn it up to 3 or 4 oclock or else it would start burning after that and I thought it was pretty efficient. Until two days ago I started putting in, at most .1 gram of kind bud, just enough to cover the screen, and it will last 30-50 minutes and Im completely set by that time, so my high is just as enjoyable but using a lot less weed, and I turn it up all the way from the very beginning and it never burns.

I don't know man. I won't speculate on .3g or the 3-4 setting. Too many variables-people, vapes, weed. They're all different to some degree. Some vapes may have max temp at 4 o'clock. I think it's safe to say though, that any vape with a clock type dial will be plenty hot at 3-4. To turn it up to max with less weed and not turn it black, either your heater is failing or you're in the twilight zone.

Its definately not failing, the glass part of the whip is much much hotter where it connects to the plastic tubing.

Also, if it were failing I wouldn't have been able to get high when it was only at 12.

I used to start it off at noon, almost all hits are clear at the 12 setting, and you get a different kind of high, I think other cannabinoids vape at this lower temperature. I would then stir it up, and up the heat to 1:30 approx, at this point I would get semi large-large visible vapor hits, definately vapor and not burning. After I do this for 15-20 minutes and the hits start to taper off, I stir it up again, and turn the dial up to 3. I would get huge massive visible vapor hits (NOT SMOKE I AM POSITIVE) I would milk this then for a good 30 minutes or so, and the vape session would last quite a long time all together, getting me quite high off of .3 grams. However if I were to turn it up higher than 3 or 4 with .3 in, it would 70% of the time start to burn. However using 1/3 of that amount and I start it off at the highest setting goes to 6 I get massive vapor rips from the start, stir it up after 15 minutes or so, toke some more for 15 minutes and I'm set off of only .1 grams. Keep in mind I'm using some top of the line bud, not the best ever, but pretty damn good stuff. Im sure a lot of you vapo users use real good stuff, so give it a try!

Thanks but no thanks. I would like to hear from somebody else that can vape at max temp and not turn their weed black. Doesn't work for me. I can burn it in all three of the vapes I'm using right now. And when I say burn I don't mean combust, just blacken. Any vape at max temp should be putting out at least 400F, which is high enough to vape beaucoup toxins. I'll stay around 365, where I can get THC without a side order of benzene and his buddies. But that's just me. I'm feeling mortal these days.

Marijuana doesn't contain benzene.....

The combustion products of marijuana contain benzene...

The whole idea behind the vaporizer is that it heats it up so it releases the chemicals that we want without the nasty side effects of smoking.

You can't boil benzene out of marijuana using a vaporizer because there is no benzene in Marijuana unless you combust it.

Like I've said before it is definately not burning. And its not black when I finish. More of a dark tan color, smells just like all the rest of my abv.

Its kind of silly that a person would refuse to try when they have so little to lose, and so much to gain. If you are afraid of it burning, don't stick it up to max right away, after you stop getting hits from it, stir it and turn it up to the max. Even if it does burn at this point it wont be a waste of anything, you just have to keep an eye on it the first couple of times if you are unsure.

I use a vaporWarez box, my headshop didn't have a VaporBrothers box when I went to buy my vape, I have used it with a VB unit side by side and couldn't notice any difference other than mine has a ceramic heating unit and looks slightly different, but both had the same correlation between temperature and Dial position.

I hope someone else with a vaporizer will put in much less than they usually do and turn it up much hotter than they usually do and report back on what the results are....

So Benzene isn't released until combustion at about 450F? The fact that it's released at combustion doesn't mean it's not also released at a lower temp. I suppose you think carbon monoxide is also not present until combustion. Where is your info coming from? You also seem to be saying that only "the chemicals that we want" are released by vaping. Talk about looking through rose colored glasses.

Here are some quotes for you from a NORML study in 2001:

"The vaporizer produced THC at a temperature of 185° C. (365° F.) while completely eliminating three measured toxins - benzene, a known carcinogen, plus toluene and naphthalene. Carbon monoxide and smoke tars were both qualitatively reduced by the vaporizer, but additional testing is needed to quantify the extent of the decrease."

"Significant amounts of benzene began to appear at temperatures of 200° C. (392° F), while combustion occurred around 230° (446°F) or above. Traces of THC were in evidence as low as 140° C. (284° F)."

"Details of the study are published in D. Gieringer, "Cannabis Vaporization: A Promising Strategy for Smoke Harm Reduction," Journal of Cannabis Therapeutics Vol. 1#3-4: 153-70 (2001). Reprints available for $5 from California NORML, 2215-R Market St. #278, San Francisco CA 94114."

http://www.canorml.org/healthfacts/vaporizerstudy1.html

This study states that benzene, toluene (the solvent in airplane glue), and naphthalene, as well as CO and tars-all of which are harmful toxins, are all present in significant quantities when vaporizing mj at high temps. You avoid the first three and minimize the last two by keeping the temp around 365F.

Vape wide open if you want, but your statement that you only get toxins when smoking is wrong.

alright, I might have been wrong about some of the toxins, but then again MOST of all the toxins from smoking comes from the combustion processes. Also the vaporizer used in that article is not really similar to a box style vape which is the one I'm using, it does use similar principles its not the same thing, did you notice that it was made from what looks like plastic? Which at those high temperatures also might be pushing toxins into it.

HOWEVER!

Even if you are getting some toxins while vaping, it will still pale in comparison to the toxins obtained from smoking.

Considering it now only takes me .06 grams of Marijuana to get high for 2-3 hours I feel the reward greatly outweighs the risk.
