| You clean out a light bulb and put weed it and heat up the weed underneath like a hot plate. In my own opinion I dont think that the light bulb, or glass vape method is truely vaporizing. You have no control over the temperature that the glass is rising too, therefore you are still burning it. True vaporizing is when you pass air through weed anywhere around 340-370 degrees. Iv never used the light bulb method but I would think it would only burn the weed. Like those hot plate vaporizors do

Actually, vaporization range is 284F (just traces of vapor here) all the way up to combustion at about 446F. Your 340-370 range is definitely the best temp range for vaping, with temps above that producing toxins that you get with smoking. But even with a lack of temp control, whether you're using something like the Hotbox or a crappy hotplate vape like the BC Vaporizer, you don't have to burn your weed. You just have to pay more attention to how long you're exposing the weed to heat. Just about any vaporizer, temp control or not, can burn your weed. And when I say burn, I don't mean combust. But when it turns black, you're overdoing it and actually producing not only mucho toxins, but some smoke as well. The problem with a lighbulb vape and simple glass jobs like the Cheap Vaporizer, Ubie, etc., is that you have to apply a flame and heat the glass. That really limits the control you have over the amount of heat applied and burning can occur very easily. IMO if you can't afford $15 (delivered) for a Cheap Vaporizer or a Ubie, stick with smoking. Unlike converting a lightbulb, at least the cheap glass jobs are designed as vaporizers. There's a learning curve, but you can get vapor without burning if you're careful. As for passing heated air THROUGH the weed, that's just the convection method. It surely is the best vaping method, but the hot plate method-conduction, also produces vapor, so it's just as valid as convection, just not as efficient. | |
