I wasn't really sure which sub-forum to place this idea in, but it seemed very similar to solar smoking/vaping...

The idea is to use of these:


To ignite/vape the THC. . . .

I've been researching these new high-powered green lasers and they can cut electrical tape in seconds, light matches, and pop balloons on contact...and yes they can burn/sting you!

I'd imagine you'd just have to wear special laser glasses...but no butane!

Anyone else think this could work?

ya i think that would work and might even give a cleaner hit then a lighter, but at $250 i'd rather just use a lighter.it would be interesting to try though

Does the laser's heat lessen from further away? Sorry I don't know my physics...
This is cool but I just think it could be dangerous.

Also, why not purchase a $50 heat gun and get something similar to a vaporizer?

I am sure it would work, but not to vaporize. I am sure it would always ignite the herb.

I agree. It would definitely be high on the cool-o-meter, especially in stoner geek circles.

However, a $5 magnifier and a sunny day will accomplish the same level of "cleanliness".

On a vape, it would be the heat source, but it wouldn't be applied directly to the herb. Just guessing, but I'd say the technology is possible, but not practical at this time, cost-wise.

I'd be afraid to burn myself, especially with how close you usually hold an ignition source. Laser radiation isn't the greatest thing for you.

i dont think that would work, those things dont burn hot enough to vape the weed.
