So I got a vaporbrothers vaporizer. The hands free model. I gotta say I've spoken to several people and read plenty of different posts and articles about vaporizers and i'm here to make a few points a little more clear to maybe some people that don't know. Or to others who might be considering one. Because I found that people really didn't give the vape as much credit as it deserve's. I mean I got the distinct impression from peopel taht a vape is better but its not really "that" much better.

Does it smell up the room as much?

- Not even close to as much as a joint or any kind of pipe. I don't normally get to smoke in the house. Last night I was smoking in the kitchent 20 feet from my wife and she smelt nothing. My breath also didn't reek of weed afterwards. If you can't smoke in your home or your significant other complains about the smell. Get a vape man get one. I no longer have to worry about smoking up the house or immediatly brushing my teeth afterwards, it simply just doesn't stink ANYTHING like normal smoking.

Does it taste different?

- Yes, very very different. Basically it tastes like nothing when inhaling. Its like you are just sucking in air and you have no idea if you are getting anything at all. When you exhale you can taste the weed about prettymuch only the weed. Whatever your pot smells like, thats what you will taste. You don't get all the nasty smoke taste or the butane taste or any of that crap. Its also much nicer on the throat and lungs. No soreness to the throat or lungs at all because of smoking yesterday.

Is it more efficient?

- I don't think so however, it is much more consistent. I really never liked the smoking part of weed that much. Halfway through any given bowl of weed it gets all black and charred and starts to taste even more horrible than the start of the bowl. So I definitly do not enjoy the last half of the bowl. So much so that I would say I probably wind up tossing out like 10-20% of the weed as "unsmoked" because in order to get the THC out of it I'd have to inhale alot of nasty tasteing shit. With the vape, thats not the case. Every hit was very very consistent. Normally on my pipe I can get 6-8 hits out of it before i'm like bleh! With the vape I must have taken 12 hits off that thing and none of them tasted like shit. I'm not even sure I got everything out of the weed. But, I was high enough and I didn't want it to taste like crap so I stopped.
So while I don't think its more efficient, I do think my weed will go farther only because I'll get all the THC out of it rather than tossing perfectly good THC due to taste concerns.

Was it hard to use?

- No, I was all methodical and planning and reading and shit. Man it just was not hard. Flip the switch, set to 1 O'clock. Grind up weed. Drop onto the screen, pack down lightly. Place over heating element and start sucking. Pull off healing element and clear. Exhale, rinse and repeat. No harder than any other method of smoking, actually much easier than smoking from a dry pipe IMO.

So my final verdict is that I absofuckinglutly love this vaporizer. If people had really made it clear to me earlier how much better this thing is, especially in the smell department. I would have dropped the cash for one a LONG time ago. 200 is alot of cash but shit, getting to smoke in the house and not having to take nasty hits of burnt weed its so worth it.

so when you smoke it, you waste 10-20 % weed.
with a vape you get all the thc but its still less efficient?

i cant afford it, so ill try it with a lightbuld and see how that works for me. then later when im in college, ill get one so it doesnt stink up the whole dorm

oh yeah questions, do you still get cotton mouth?
was the high the same as smoking it? cause people said its a diff feeling..
how heavy is it?
how much weed did it take to get 12 hits off of?

Yes I waste 10-20% purely for tastes reason's. Not because the THC is gone. So technically its not more efficient. It just doesn't inspire me to waste weed.

Cotton mouth isn't changed. Its a little better I suppose due to lack of smoke, but i'm still very thirsty. That comes from being high, not from the smoke. So yea cotton mouth is unavoidable. Throat and lungs are not as distressed that much is certain.

Didn't feel any different to me, high wise. I got high in the same time frame and it lasted about as long as normal I think. I got a little higher than I normally would from that much weed.

Ummm how much weed was it, I can't say i'm horrible with measurements like that. It was the same amount I would load into my pipe normally. I think I loaded it to about 50% of what the say is the max fill in the instructions.

I was just like the OP in this thread, I had read and read and finally got a lighter base vape. I thought it would be OK but it really was KILLER and is the only way I'll smoke from now on.

I couldn't agree more on the smell, it is virtually non-existent, it's way less than the smell inside your bag. If you ate a piece of herb the size of a grain of salt, that would have around the same flavor as a hit from a vape and it has a green/fresh taste to it. This last weekend I had a friend of mine blow the vapor in my face while I didn't smoke. It smelt like faint Pine or like the herb just very very faint. No doubt the room is clear in 2 minutes MAX and ANY room freshiner would cover it up INSTANTLY because the smell is so weak. This reduced smell is the most over looked aspect of vaping.


I have vaped 100 hits so far and have not had 1 cough yet, it just doesn't hurt your throat AT ALL, in fact its very very soft and like the OP said you can't really tell your geting anything on the inhale. IF you get a MASIVE HIT you may just feel it a tad. If you char it you may cough very lightly

I have found it to double my herb but not tripple it. I can load 1 bowls worth and hit it 6-9 times to really dry it out and at that time your really geting lit, two bowls and you ARE lit.

For me cotton mouth has changed it's not near as bad as smoking, in fact I have never thought of it wile lit from vaping.


I also agree it was very very easy to use, and I have tougher models. I have 3 Lighter heated models, 2 of which worked beyond my highest hope. I thought they'd be cheap but once I pulled a big white vapor on my 2nd draw I knew I like it better than the electric ones since its a pipe I can carry with me. Wouldn't trade it for a Volcano or SuperVapezilla I can't put those in my pocket on the way to the movies. Also I can vape with-in 6 seconds from a cold bowl - it's wonderfull.

I'll also reiterate the Smell or lack there of is the most single over looked thing about a vape - For all practical purposes- There is no smell.

I only smoke legal herbs, when I come to these forums and discuss things like smoking and the high one gets I'm referring to the feeling I get from legal herbs and have no information on what others are smokeing or reffering to. I don't smoke marijuana but do enjoy discussing and talking about legal herbs and the high from different legal smoking methods and all my post should be viewed in that light.

To some, it's not that much better. It depends on how you feel about inhaling smoke. If you like to get a lungful with a 2 second hit, then a vape can be frustrating. As for me, I was ready to give up weed before I found vaping.

If you can't tell how heavy a hit you're getting, you're probably inhaling too hard. Biggest adjustment from smoking to vaping IMO. Hit it too hard and you're pulling too much cold air into the heating chamber and dropping your vaping temp. That decreases or even stops your vapor flow. Best way to draw on the whip is nice and easy. That helps to keep the temp up and steady while you draw. I'll take a deep breath or two before I hit it. That gives you a good supply of oxygen so your hit can be slow and steady. Unlike smoking, your first hit will probably not give you the most vapor. It also depends on how much moisture is in your herb. As it dries out with the first hit or two, you'll then get more vapor. How much you put in is a factor too. Using small amounts takes more effort, but it's the best way to stretch your supply. It continues to amaze me how much vapor I can get out of just a tiny bit of weed.

Well, again it depends on the person, but it's more efficient for some, because it's harder to waste herb. If you're smoking and take a huge bong hit (maybe to show your friends how big a toke you can take?) that you can't hold for two seconds, that's inefficient. Much harder to choke on vapor.

On the contrary my friend I to thought this, it's SO NOT TRUE! in my opinion a vaporizer is far better. I bought my vaporizer in September of 2006, a year proir to purchase I had a HUGE verbal fight with my sister about making the switch from joints to vaping. I now think my vaporizer was the best birthday presant my sister ever got me, this thing rules.



This is true, however it's not oderless if you have children this should be your choice though for sure.




Sorry gotta disagree with you there bro, I've had some nice tasting as well as shitty tasting. What kind of herb eg strain, how it's grown, at what temp your vaping at, how you prepare your herb all that factors in on what taste will be produced. Somebody buying from a dispensory is going to have much better luck finding a good tasting herb, than someone buying from a street dealer. I use a coffee grinder to chop up my herbs, almost to a peper consistancy.


I believe it is I'm a long time smoker my intake has been much less, plus it saves on your wallet. Consistant VERY I know without a doubt, every time I pulg that baby in that I'm going to get where I need to be.

200? Man they saw you coming, don't feel bad a'lot of people pay in the 200 range for a so so vaporizer. When I bought mine I absofuckinglutly loved my vaporizer so much that I wrote the company.

The letter went something like "Dear Vaporstore I really feel you have a quality product, I'd be real happy to send some business your way if you can make it affordable for all my friends to buy one"

The owner replied to my email personally and heres what the nice man did for me and my friends, he said sure we will do that. How about 20% off any product we make? I said 20% huh? And pulled up my Windows calculater, ok let's see a A Volcano normally 539.00 - 20% = 431.20
A VaporBox - Hands Free Deluxe normally 169.00 - 20% = 135.20 you get the drift anyway he hooked us up.

Yea I know 200 was a bit pricy but the hand's free model was an extra 20 bucks and I had to pay tax as well. The 200 is out the door price not sticker price. Plus I really don't mind paying the extra money when i'm supporing my local head shop. I could have bought online and paid significantly less but, I'd rather give my money to something local.
