| Hello all! ![]() I'm a long time lurker, first time poster who is glad to find some place where people know something about vaping. I think I'm ready to take the plunge and invest in a really good vaporizer, but I have a few questions before I do. 1) I hate the act of smoking with a bong/pipe/joint/whatever because I feel lots of pain in my throat and chest even when I'm careful to mix lots of air with my smoke. I've tried eating, but I just got all couchlock and none of the fun mental high that I love. So am I correct in my understanding that vaping is super easy and painless compared to smoking? 2) I seen a lot of rave reviews for the Vapor Warez, and I like that it can be found for less than $150 after shipping. Would you recommend it for a complete vaporizing newbie? 3) Speaking of newbies, I will be vaping with a friend of mine who has only 2 experiences with the fine herb so far, and I was wondering if was anything concerning vaping the both of us should keep in mind that we the inexperienced might not think of. Thanks for the help! ![]() |

| My vaping experiences still involve coughing. But in general, the vapor is much smoother and agreeable then a massive rip off a joint. I prefer vaping over smoking any day, because it takes much less herb to reach the same level of high. Therefore it takes less 'hits' and less amounts of coughing in total. --Fight

| Welcome to the Lounge cj. 1- Vaping super easy? Nope. It takes more patience to vape if you're using a whip vape like the Vaporwarez. A bag type vape like the Volcano, herbalAire, or Vapir One has no learning curve. Just set it up, turn it on, and fill the bags. Using a bag can give you some throat irritation (just drink some water) but is easier on the lungs than smoking or using a whip. Volcano-expensive, Vapir-unreliable fans, herbalAire-a great choice since it does bags or direct draw like the whip only vapes (about $200 on ebay from authorized dealers). I've got the herbalAire and highly recommend it. It heats up fast (LED tells you when it's ready) for a quick direct draw or you can fill a bag-no learning curve at all when you use a bag. With any whip vape there's a learning curve. You're using your lungs to pull air through the heating chamber. Pull too hard and you lower the the temp too much and get little or no vapor. Drawing too hard is the biggest mistake new vapers make. Take a couple of deep breaths before you hit so you can draw slow and easy. You can also adjust your hit by not sealing your mouth around the mouthpiece so you're getting some outside air with your hit. You can also get huge hits of concentrated vapor from a whip-can be a challenge for your lungs at times. So using a whip vape takes practice. 2- Direct draw (usually a whip) is pretty much the same with whatever unit you use. You just refine your technique and it gets easier. Vaporwarez would be my choice vs. the Vapor Bros. -much better warranty. I don't like box units like these with heater tubes that angle downward. My Vaporlight has a horizontal heater-much easier to use. You can leave the whip on the tube for preheating or quicker hits if you're sharing. Other box units with horizontal tubes are the Pure Vaporizer or iVape. Both of these are priced like the Vaporwarez and have been around for years. You can make any heater tube horizontal though. Just prop up the rear end and make sure it's secure. If you use it with the downward angle, you have to constantly suck on the whip so your herb doesn't fall out of the whip onto the heater tube. 3- If you vape your product too long or too hot, you'll be getting harsh hits and toxins that come with smoking. These toxins, including carbon monoxide, all contribute to the couch lock effect. If your vaped weed is black, your temp is too high. Bottom line-most any convection vaporizer will work great for you with practice, and you'll love vaping if you don't like smoke. |

| If I Mist/Wet my ground up heb before I vape it, it is SUPER SMOOTH I don't cough at all. I only rarely cough when I hit it till my lungs are full, if you stop your hit at about 80% lung capacity you will be thrilled with how little you cough. I personal am so happy I didn't pay $150 for a vaporizer, I bought this unit http://www.vaporstar.co.uk/ for $50 shipped right there off that site. It works AWESOME. I have vaped the crap out of herb and schorching is virtualy non-exsitant. I can get 7-10 hits from one bowl and you can watch the vapor build as you draw, it just gives a ton of control. It's also portable, no dangerous electicty to be turned on/off, and from a cold bowl you can have a vapor hit in 15 seconds - 1 - 7 second warm up hit that produces a little vapor then a 2nd 7 second hit that gits you a massive vapor - then 6-9 more hits. The fact that it really has no parts to be broken and is portable and cheap just makes it a total winner for me - It's only con is(Some will say) you get butane from the lighter, but burnt butane is totaly harmless basically waterand is used to light cigs everyday. I love it along with another lighter base vaporizer I have. Wouldn't trade either of them for the labor intensive, location locked, heating element style, big units you can't get those in and out of a car in your pocket like the VaporStar.

| I disagree with your point that it takes patience/practice to use a whip style vaporizer. Mine worked perfectly the very first time I used it (with no prior experience), didn't burn the weed at all. It's really just common sense. As long as you don't start out with a high temp, you're not going to burn it. That being said, I HAVE gotten the temp a little too hot 3-4 times...but that's 3 or 4 times in 2.5 months of almost daily use. |

| Thanks for the replies so far! ![]() 5drive, you just described the techniques I use so I'm overwhelmed while smoking. Maybe I'll be good to go with a whip. Not to sound like a smart ass, but I'm confused as to how electricity is dangerous as long as I'm using the standard plugs? Although the Vaporstar makes me wonder if you can see the vapor in the tube while you're pulling on a whip. I'm just randomly curious to know. |

| It's not dangerous, unless you vaporize pool side. |

Yeah, for me a butane torch is more dangerous (especially mine, which locks the flame in the 'on' position). An electric vape is certainly dangerous if you're vaping in the bathtub .With a box vape you can see vapor in a clear tube when it's new (easier to see in the glass whip-again it helps a lot if it's clean), but it's not like the thick vapor you see collecting in the Vaporstar glass or a bag. It's just a thin, wispy stream. And my point about a whip needing practice (vs. a bag) wasn't so much about burning the weed as it was about learning how to get good hits consistently. A vape that fills bags has a fan or air pump that provides the correct and constant air flow so your temp is always in the range to give you good vapor. With a whip your lung power is going to vary so your hits are also going to vary as far as quality goes. I enjoy both bag and whip delivery, depending on my mood. | |

| I wish one of you guys that owns a Volcano or other electric vaporizer that you love would spend the money on the Vaporstar. Heck if you had the $500 to get it what another $50 going to kill you. I would be really interested to hear you thoughts after you had gained some skill with the VaporStar. It might be the type of thing that you enjoy the protablity and instant vapeing and the fact that it works so well it may become your vape of choice - not saying it will but it would be interesting to see how a seasoned user of the high-end vaporizers reponded to the VaporStar(again after they adjusted to it well-say 10-15 bowls). |
