i just got my vape. performance wise its good but i got it custom made and nothing came out even remotly close to what i asked for and i think that if i had of gone with the regular unit i would have had nicer glass on it then i do now cuz i think it looks hideous. so i phoned them up for some of that great customer service i keep hearing about and i found out it wasnt all that it was cracked up to be so now if i want to get the parts replaced i have to pay international shipping (18$) and customs (40$) all over again when the knob and heater cover are just about that expensive, all thanks to their error, needless to say, i am really dissapointed. but i figured it would be cheaper and easier to wait until i have more money and just get all new glass later and still be able to vape in the meantime so i guess for now im stuck with this ugly thing. also the heating element is kinda slanted and it looks like they didnt paint the bottom part of the element white, is this even paint? has this happened to anyone else? does it matter?

thanks for your input

What did they customize for you? Just the knob and heater cover? Was it an extra $50? I actually emailed them a question the other day about getting both those parts made to order. Was seriously thinking about taking advantage of the Jan. special on the aluminum
base. It's been two days now with no answer, so they're a day late (so far) on their claimed 24 hour email response. For an outfit with so much custom stuff, they definitely need to improve their communication.

Most of the custom glass pieces they have on their site are too busy for me-just too many colors. And even if I found a knob or cover I liked, I wouldn't be able to tell them which one it is and have any assurance that I'd get it. What I really want is a knob and cover with the same color scheme and only a couple of colors. It's a bitch when you have to leave it up to somone else's taste for a custom setup. I'm probably going to have to just wait until I see a knob I like on the site and pay the $20-30 extra so I can pick my own. Of the 14 custom knobs I now see on the site, there's only one I could live with.

The SSV heating element is supposed to be fully encased in ceramic. I don't know exactly what you're seeing at the bottom or if it's normal or not. Maybe TokinGLX can help you with that.

i got both the knob and heater cover custom made, not one of the pre custom made ones i asked for a replica of a knob which they said they could do (they cant) and a heater cover to match with certain details i asked for. not only didnt i get what i ordered, but they didnt even match the heater cover they made to the knob. and come to think of it my knob is exactly the one on the rainbows end SSV in the previous pics but with more green instead of blue so i dont even think they custom made the knob. i felt the side of the element and everything is smooth so either they didnt paint the bottom half all white of they painted some random grey lines on it.

Does that mean you called them and complained, and they said they couldn't replicate your design? Or did you just not get what you ordered? If you got a totally different knob and cover from what you specified, and they don't match, it seems like they just screwed up and sent you a standard production unit. If they tried to match your design request and failed, they should have contacted you and tried to do some kind of design that would have satisfied you, and you definitely should have gotten matching designs. It sounds to me like you paid for custom work and got standard stock.

thats what im thinkin except i think they made the heater cover custom cuz i have never seen one like it before, its got like 20 bumps all on the bend part of the heater cover when i only asked for a couple. i had emailed them about getting a knob i see on their site and they said they could make a replica but i ended up with almost the same one as tokinGLX has on his rainbows end SSV. also i was vapin last night and the heating element gave off sparks!?is this normal? i feel cheated by this company, not fun.

You saw sparks in the heater tube? That's not good. Heating elements are supposed to provide heat only. Sparks would indicate a problem. It's possible you just got some mj dust or something on the element and you saw it burning off. If the problem continues and you're sure they're sparks, I'd definitely contact the company and see about returning it. Just make sure you're not accidentally blowing any air back through the whip.

it hasnt happened since i took off the heater cover to take a look so it could have been some mj in there not to my knowlegde cuz i had a friend over when it happened so mabye he blew in and didnt tell me. its not worth sending anything back to them cuz they make you pay s&h and customs all over again which can really add up, which i think is rediculous because they were the ones who screwed it up in the first place. i think i may just buy a better heating element cuz the one on mine looks to be made by cutting corners. any idea about what happened to cause a grey discoloration on the heater is? it was like that when i got it so i know it wasnt from me. and does anyone know a good ceramic heater company?

-many thanks

I wouldn't try replacing that element. It's not your typical ceramic heater. I'd leave it alone as long as it works. If it quits and you don't want to send the vape back for warranty repair, I'd contact SSV about the possibility of them shipping you an element. At that point your warranty is going to be voided, but if you'd rather try and replace the heater instead of sending it back, go for it. Too bad you're in a high cost shipping situation and have had such bad luck. You're the unhappiest SSV customer I've heard of.
