Most of my post (#16) consisted of my opinion on the design of the Vapman and the fact that I agreed with bongoman's review. I based my opinion on the fact that bongoman got the intended results and that Vaporstore put its stamp of approval on it. I didn't say I'd used it nor did I suggest that you had either. I simply disagreed with your description of the Vapman as the sketchiest butane vape.

Only SmokinCool and bongoman have said they've used it. Obviously bongoman used it the way it was designed to be used and got good results. If someone tries to apply a torch with a shaky hand and use it for ten minutes straight, then he may need an oven glove, or even better, a different vape. As bongo said:

"Sounds like you are heating too hard and too long if the wood is getting hot. I'm yet to experience this issue. In dim light I light up the lighter away from the vapman and can then see where to apply the flame. A steady hand helps."

"The bowl is very small and I agree that if you have a strong tolerance or mids, then you'll have to repack. But with good bud, I'm surprised at how stoned I get off a tiny pinch in the vapman."

The only thing I'm confused about is what your dislike of the Vaporcannon's heater cover angle has to do with your statement about the Vapman, which only said it was the sketchiest butane vape you'd seen. You're saying you don't like that one aspect of the warez (I don't either), but that doesn't make the whole package a poor design IMO.

I rub it to dust between my fingers, and use the vapman until it tastes bad, takes 4-5 cycles, each cycle takes up to minute.

If you only have to do one bowl, it's great, and I'm sure the vapman really shines for you.

I can't afford kind bud and decent mids is unbelievably cheap here. I don't toke every day so haven't built a tolerance. Mids is usually fine for me, but in the vapman it takes a lot of repacks and 4-5 mins of use per repack.

I don't want to digress into a discussion of business economics, but I suspect the video shows the making of prototypes.

Otherwise, I agree with your other points so haven't quoted them.

The vapman may be a good choice for people who use expensive herb. But with mids, it is probably going to be a disappointment.

I fully respect your opinion and it's always a bummer dropping $$ on something that doesn't work for you.

I'm sure a lot of people on this forum are on the quest for their 'perfect' vaporiser, which may or may not exist.

You said it is your first vaporiser - have you considered getting an electrical model? Vaportower, SSV, Vapolution etc? Or if portability is a requirement, a Vaporstar or VaporGenie?

It might not be a purchase you want to make after spending $ on the vapman. Not sure if/how you could resell the vapman and at least get some money back to allow you to find a model that suits.

Seems like it does what it says it does, its up to each person if they like that or not.

I would see the vaporman as situational use only and not as a an everyday at home vape and for me I think their are better options for my smoking style if I was looking for a portable but thats me.

It seems like its high on pain in the arse factor too but I havent used it so I dont know. Im sure those that own can take it apart and back together in the dark no problem at all hehe.

The video showed a production build. You don't have bins full of parts for prototypes.


Depends on the person. Some people are quite satisfied with just a VaporGenie or even a lightbulb. Not that they would turn down something better, but for some users price can be an obstacle or even a matter of principle. And as a portable and second vape it would be just fine for many users, even with mids. I don't know that I'd ever get one myself. The Vapolution and a VaporGenie meet my portable needs. Vapman is on my list of vapes I'd love to try but maybe not enough to buy. But it would definitely meet my needs. Sometimes I only want one hit from a portable, just to mellow my mood a little, and mids are my staple.

I admire handmade things; my house is of handmade wood and stone, and I play expensive handmade instruments. I also admire creative engineering. The vapman is simple yet elegant; small, but a thing of no small beauty. And unique. You're never going to find them in head shops. These qualities are the reason I bought this particular vape instead of another one.

I think I'm going to save it until I get some better herb. It really is too much trouble for me to use it with mids. I loaned it to my roommate for his assessment and he agreed with me, so it's not just me.

Which leads to another topic. Decent mids is incredibly cheap where I live. By decent, I mean I can get a solid buzz with two bowls smoked the traditional way. I can get a hp of this for less than what a lot of people are paying for an oz of kind bud. So I'm thinking about extraction methods, not just simply cooking it in everclear, but something more sophisticated along the lines of the book 'Cannabis Alchemy'. I can't seem to find a serious discussion of this on the board, but maybe that's oweing to my lack of experience using this type of bbs. If someone would point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful. Also, how do you start a new thread?

I don't know of any extraction methods other than grain alcohol. I'd be interested myself.

I don't like butane Vaporizers because I've noticed that I almost empty an entire bic in one smoking session. Its expensive to do that (not to mention a pain in the ass). They are portable though, which is cool..... I would get the VAPORSTAR instead of this vapman shit. check it out, it looks tight and is lighter based.
