My new Volcano has one of my buddies really wanting a vaporizer of his own, but he can't afford the Volcano right now. We've been looking at a bunch of models that are closer to the $100-$200 range that sound pretty cool. However, mod note commercial links removedDo they work? Thanks for any advice!

I don't know anything about vaporizers, but you should post it in the VAPORIZER section, as you would definitely get more info there.

I own several vapes, including the herbalAire, which I recommend as the best buy in a Volcano type vape (you want your vapor from a bag). I'm spoiled in that I wouldn't want to be restricted to just one of my vapes, but I have to admit that the Vapolution is my favorite, due to taste (with the optional glass straw) and portability. It has an all glass vapor path, it's very sturdy, but you do have to put up with the narrow bowl and use pieces instead of ground weed (unless you want to make yourself a really, really small screen).

The Phedor is equilvalent to a $140 soldering iron and I don't consider it to be a true vaporizer or worth half that price.

The Vaporcannon by Vaporwarez is a nice vape and probably your safest bet in a box vape. I'd get it on ebay, where it's available for $120 with a nice scale and free shipping. Vapenow doesn't have the best prices. For an on-line dealer I'd go with vaporstore or vapedaddy. They both have a good selection and better prices. Vaporstore and others also sell on ebay at lower prices. The ebay price and 5 yr. warranty make this one the best buy in an electric vape IMO.

The Vapir One has had a lot of fan failures, and you've got a digital display to worry about as well, so it goes to the bottom of your list for reliability. If you want vapor in a bag, the herbalAire is much more reliable and dealers are selling it on ebay at a discount.

There are some other nice whip vapes out there. The Silver Surfer will run you a little over $200 and gives you a unique piece with lots of nice accessories. The V-Tower (only on ebay) is a really nice whip vape for $159. It comes with an addtional potpourri bowl that makes it a good choice for stealth. You won't go wrong with any of the vapes mentioned except the Phedor, and I can't recommend the Vapir because of it's bad track record.

I think the VaporWarez machine is the most bang for your buck. I had a VaporBrothers machine that died. I liked it. I like the VaporWarez machine with which I replaced it even better.
