| When I first sought out a vaporizers, I thought purely in terms of efficiency of THC extraction, health benefits, etc. I might have a couple friends over to share with, but by the time this stuff came out I was at a stage in life where I rarely went to big house parties, or went pubbing. When I did go pubbing, I could not vape unless there was a viper room with an outlet. However, there are some annual events I go to which are basically big house parties for 40 somethings, so I'm not quite a chronic hermit yet. These are some observations: One problem is of course explaining vaporization itself. Some of my friends are not so academic or are just pretty knee-jerk conservative with their herbs ("enough with the PC vaporising crap, real men SMOKE") . If I supply the herbs, they'll try it of course, but there is skepticism. Then there is portability. If you have a plugin unit, you have to corral anyone you want to get high with over to some kind of outlet, unless you have the mother of all extension cords, which then presents the risk of getting tangled in a drunken mob.. Then, some units, like anything from Oxygen, have built in overrides that limit how long you can vape before the thing shuts down. The volcano doesn't have that problem, but do you really want to lug around your $600 toy to a place with a bunch of drunk folks? Learning curve is also an issue. For example, the v-tower turned out to be more complicated to explain to a layperson after 6 beers than I would have thought. In fact one big problem is any vape where you have to wait X minutes for it to warm up. People at parties do not seem to have that kind of attention span. The units with pretty lights that tell you when it's good to go seem to be more party friendly - you can chat without watching a clock. And of course there is the question of unsupervised use - some designs are very vulnerable to misuse and damage from that, some have very hot parts which can hurt the unwary. So altogether, I think the Oxygen mini is the best social vape I own. Pretty lights, efficient, portable. It does not taste as good as a v-tower or Volcano, but other than setting the temp it's not very technical to use. Only downside is the 1-hour battery life off a full charge. But you can take it with you to the pub (or even, as I tried yesterday, on the bus ). Not something I would prefer to use in a chilled out home situation, but great on the piss.Anyone have any experiences/insights they'd like to share? |

| Vaping tends to be more a "home alone, got herb, go vape!" type of thing for me, rather than a "Go to party, light bowl, get high" thing. Maybe it's because my friends are too dumb to figure out how to use vapes. ![]() |

| The best selling point for vaping in a party situation is, IMO, the high. You get a higher energy buzz that's more conducive to partying. A bag vape like the Volcano is certainly the best way to go at a larger party. No learning curve for newbies and a bag can be passed around like a joint. Bong lovers can hit a bag as hard as they like. No glass to break. You just have to have someone load the proper amount, mind the temp, and pull the bag when it's full. A whip vape is fine at a smaller gathering, but like you say, someone must be responsible for instructing users and protecting the equipment. Your point about lugging any vape to a party, especailly a bag setup, is a good point. Of course, here's where one of those Volcano carrying cases comes in handy. I certainly wouldn't go to the trouble unless you knew a good enough percentage of the party was interested.

| ive taken my vape to many parties, never had any issues with it. i plug it in(vapes that come with a 10 ft cord ftw) in some corner or off room, and sit there and become the weedtender of the night. because it is a whip type, hits come fast and they pack a hell of a punch. i wouldnt suggest a volcano for a party situation, its too slow in operation, and the bag can be a hassle at times. with mine, i never let go of the wand, and when a new person comes up to hit it i just tell them to inhale kindof slowly, and to cut off the hit before they think they need to. it never fails, they take a massive rip and get this dumbfounded, happy look on their face, and then usually ask for one more hit.

| I don't think you'd get much of a hit off of a ten foot whip. Too much would condense on the tubing's walls.
