Default Best tubing

My vape came with a standard clear plastic tubing for the whip. I'm wondering if there are better tubes out there for whips? I believe that the standard tubing particularly when exposed to heat releases small amounts of petrolium based chemicals and delivers a lite plastic taste.

Anyone have any experience like this with their whip tubing.

Any whip reccomendations or preffered manufacturors you like?

most vapes come with a food grade vinyl tubing. you would have to contact the manufacturer of your vape to find out what temp the tubing is rated to.

a quick google shows me that teh most common temp rating for "food grade vinyl tubing" is 158, but there are some that are up at 500. if you are concerned, you can order some of the high quality(it was about 2 bucks a foot) tubing.

personally, i have never experienced any unnatural chemical tastes originating from the tube itself, and ive had the temp cranked up pretty high at times.

If you want a good selection of tubing, try usplastic.com. Take a look at their Tygon tubing section.

Thanx 5-Drive

I checked usplastic.com and found
This heat resistent tubing good to 400F before breaking down.
TygonŽ FluranŽ F-5500-A Severe Environment Tubing - US Plastic Corporation

Seems to me most whip tubes there is some chemical release due to the extreme heat which exceeds 125F that most commercial tube is rated at.

OK, heres a related question. The paperwork that came with my vape said any food grade tubing with an inner diam. of 1/2 in and an outer diam. of 3/8in would work. I bought 20 feet of clear tubing that size from Home Depot, but can't get the mouthpiece to fit into the tubing. The part that comes into contact with the heating element (the bowl) goes in, but even after running under extremely hot water, I can't make the mouthpiece fit. Any suggestions?

Also, on another related note, my whip came with a cream-colored, stretchy, flexible tubing, not the somewhat rigid tubing I found at home depot....where can I get some of this more flexible tubing from?

You mean inner diameter of 3/8 and outer 1/2. The tubing that came with my Vapolution was also too tight a fit for the mouthpiece and bowl. They puposely used that size so there would be no chance that the tubing would come off. Their instructions said to put the ends of the tubing into boiling water for 5-10 seconds, then the tubing would be soft enough to wiggle the glass pieces in. It works great. If this doesn't work for you, you may have to go with a larger size. I suspect though that you're just not getting the tubing hot enough for the necessary flexibility.

I've found usplastic.com to have the best selection of tubing. Look for Tygon Tubing. They normally sell in 10' sections. You have to know the wall thickness you want as well. Most vape tubing seems to have a thickness of 1/16".

That stuff is very hard to find in this universe!

My VaporWarez machine (std model) uses tubing with a 5/16" ID. I got some with a 1/2" OD and it was too stiff. The kind with the 7/16" OD was a perfect match for the original.

I'm surprised that 3/8" ID wasn't a loose and sloppy fit.

No there isn't. Chemicals are not released from tubing sold with quality vaporizers because it's decent food grade tubing and there is no extreme heat hitting the tubing. You absolutely do not need tubing rated to 400 degrees. You need to understand that air cools very quickly once it leaves a heating source. If any companies were selling dangerous tubing with their vapes, others would be using that info for marketing purposes, and that's just not happening. Just make sure your replacement tubing is food grade and you'll have nothing to worry about. And if I had one of the Chinese cheapie vapes with no warranty I WOULD be upgrading my tubing.

I was able to use the tubing I had, but had to make a small slit in the edge of the tubing in order for iot to fint around the mouthpiece. The boiling water helped considerably, but without the tiny slit, it just wasn't going to go. It seems secure at the moment though, and served its purpose when put to the ultimate test today.
