| Haven't tried the HerbalAire but I was in this sort of lounge in TO where you can rent a vape for $5, and the guy is apparently somewhat of an authority on the subject. I know he has been prominent in the legalization movement in Hamilton in times past. Anyway it turns out one of the things he has done is compare his volcanos to his herbalaires, and found that after he runs the herbs through the volcano until no more vapor comes out, he can get two more bags of vapor out of those herbs with the herbalaire. The opposite is not true. He feels that the pump the herbalaire uses, which sort of pulses the hot air through the herbs, is what makes the difference. I know I get better hits if I sort of puff on the whip I own instead of do steady draws. Anybody tried both of these products? |

| Interesting. I've noted that HerbalAire's website makes exactly the same claim > "In fact, multiple independent tests have proven the herbalAire can extract two or more additional bags of essence from the "spent herb" of other popular vaporizers." Note that I couldn't find any direct reference to back up their statement of "multiple independent tests". Seems to me if one makes such a claim then there should be links provided to those cited...

I guess either the guy I spoke to is either parroting the commercial materials to hustle some vapes (although he sells both), or maybe he treated it as an experimental claim and replicated it, like they do in the peer review process. I know for a fact the guy I spoke to is a political activist, so I tend to credit his sincerity. On some other web site the reviewer reported the same thing, but complained about the bag not having a valve and the straw getting hot. | |

The multiple independent tests were conducted by a panel of experts in the field of vaporization. The primary testers were Thomas Harrison, Richard Dickson, and Harry Thomson. Assisting them were John and Jane Doe, and John Q. Public. Seriously, don't let the advert speak turn off anyone who's interested in this vape. Leaving all the 'king of efficiency' stuff aside, it does a great job, uses both delivery methods, and the customer/warranty service is the absolute best I've received for any product I've ever bought. If the straw gets hot then the temp is way too high. Mine gets no more than warm and cools very fast. Hot means 'ouch' and herbie's never hurt me. And really, you can take the straw off after the bag's filled and hit the connector. That provides huge hits. Not having a valve is a tradeoff between convenience and cost. Once you take a hit or two there's no pressure in the bag and if you set the bag down for a moment there's hardly any vapor loss. It's pretty easy to just keep your finger over the opening. Also, no valve is one reason it's much easier to clean than the Volcano, although neither needs frequent cleaning. And for a great party vape, here's what you can do with a modified main mouthpiece. ![]()

| Many people assume because the filling chamber for the volcano is so large, it NEEDS to be filled. I use my space case to grind my herb, and use a "PINCH" inside my volcano. Enough just cover the bottom screen completely. I start my run at 5.5 on the knob, do a bag...then turn it to 6.5....do a bag...each one is noticeable as far as in density of "vapors/smaug". I do a last bag at 7.5 (out of 9) and get last bag before im toasted and can't even move. Three normal sized bags from the volcano with a PINCH of weed (.3 grams or less) got me more stoned than a half gram ground and packed into RooR bowl. I get more mileage from my Volcano after I learned how to be "thrifty" with it. You can save the brown "coffee looking vapor poop" and make brownies from it...just takes a few oz's to really make anything worth whille. . . I never regret the purchase of my Volcano--and I'll take the challenge any day to a better built/designed product! (I own several vapes myself mind you!) ![]()

| I agree 100%. If you want to stretch your weed, less is more. No matter which vape you have, use small amounts per bowl, and you'll be surprised how far your weed will go. I've often vaped a pinch or small piece and then decided I was baked enough for the time being. With a whip vape it's much easier to tell when a load is fully cooked if you load small. You don't have to stir and stir and stir again to make sure it's all been exposed to the vapor path. |

| Yes it is. http://www.marijuana.com/vaporizers/...tml#post824263 Please don't let any stories you hear about efficiency differences between these two vapes determine which one you buy. They're both extremely efficient. The Volcano has a larger loading chamber, so there may be a tendency to load more. I've found that with any vape I've used, better efficiency is achieved with small loads. It just makes it easier to make sure all the weed is fully exposed to the heated air. If you put a roast in the oven and it cooks just right at 350, you certainly couldn't fully cook two of them at the same temp in the same amount of time. But if you want to reload less often, and/or get really thick vapor hits (bag or whip), then a larger load is called for. You can just restir the weed (again, with bag or whip) to make sure it all gets exposed to the heat. The only downside there is that you're hitting spent weed while making sure you get a big load fully cooked. That could affect taste to some extent. Again, it's mostly personal preference. |
