| Is there a best vaporizer? I was looking at the volcano or volcano digital but a $350-$550 (ebay) is a big commitment. Does the volcano help enhance the taste, produce less toxins, or get you a better high versus other high end vaporizers? Is the digital vaporizer worth the extra $150. |

| Whip vaporizers taste better than bag vapes, IMHO. Bag vapor is thin. Whip vapor is more like smoking. Unless you set the temp way too high, vaporizers don't produce any toxins. Bag vapes have no learning curve, but unless you are totally inept, whip vapes can be completely figured out in a couple of hours. I'm a very utilitarian person. I don't care about having the most expensive version of a tool, or the one with the most bells and whistles. I want one that does the job well, is reliable, is durable, and provides the best return on investment.

| I can get my volcano bags as thick as smoke with that sweet vapor--without turning the knob past 5.5...you just have to know the right techniques... :P Turning the chamber/bag while it fills helps (so that it equally is exposed to the air)...also if you hover the filling chamber/bag about 1mm instead of setting it down like normal, you slow the speed at which the bag fills. Hence, more/thicker vapor!

| I am about to purchase a vaporizer of my own. I too thought Volcanos were the kingpins, but I have heard otherwise. From what I can tell it is overpriced and other vaporizers are just as efficient, cheaper, and easier to use. I think I have my mind set on getting a Black w/lime green Silver Surfer vape. I am also thinking about asking for a custom made knob as well as a glass lime green tree frog made for the top. Check them out, I think you will be very pleased. ![]()

| as a silver surfer owner who has owned a few vapes in the past, and has tried most on todays market(still havent found anybody that has a herbal air...), i can say that the ssv really is the best. as buzz said, there is a learning curve with the whip vapes, but you get over that quite quickly.

Forr ease of use and the best overall unit.. I pick the volcano. solid as a tank with a REAL 5 year warranty. by using it properly, you can regulate the thickness of the vapor. it really is top of the food chain.. dont let anyone tell you otherwise. next up is the whip style vape, popularized by Vapor brothers/vaporwarz. these can be purchased with ceramic elements, for under $150 at that price it's a superb deal... but fact is.. it's no volcano the third would be the heatgun setup sold by companies like GotVape? The GotVape? unit is a wagner digital heatgun and a compatible bowl/slide that attaches to your tube/bong. These give the THICKEST vapor rips, and can choke a horse if you dont use it properly. These are VERY cool, dont cost alost and allow you to use ice and water filtration to moisten the dry vapor hit. just my 2 cents...Hope this helps | |

| IMO, there is no 'best vaporizer'. I wish people would quit comparing bag delivery to whip as far as one being better than the other. I've heard from people that own both the Volcano and top of the line digital whip vapes (Super Vapezilla, Vaporfection), and some prefer the 'cano, others the whip. I've been using both bag and whip delivery for well over a year. Although my wife likes the ease of use of a bag, I'm a fan of both. There's pluses and minuses to both systems and now that I'm spoiled I would hate to be restricted to using just one method. I've used both Volcano (though don't own one) and herbalAire (do own one) for bag delivery, and various whip vapes. I've been known to buy a vape just to try out a slightly different design. Of my half a dozen current vapes, I'm using 3-4 on a regular basis, depending on my mood and situation. I don't care how much vapor you cram into a bag, a good whip vape will win the taste contest every time. And there can be a good deal of pleasure (satisfaction wise) in getting a big, smooth vapor hit and exhaling a nice thick stream of vapor. As has been said before, there's a learning curve with a whip (hey, that's part of the satisfaction), and all your hits won't be the same. If ease of use and consistent hits are your priority, go with bag delivery. It also lets you take your vapor with you to the kitchen, bathroom, back yard, etc. But if those advantages aren't that important to you, and/or your budget is limited, you can get solid performance from a $120 Vaporwarez Vaporcannon. Although the herbalAire (which I think is the best bargain for bag delivery) does direct draw also, it doesn't provide as tasty a hit as other good whip vapes (I use it with direct draw for a really speedy vapor dose, since it has a fast heat up time). Good bag vapes like the herbalAire and Volcano are more efficient than whips because your air flow is provided by a pump or fan rather than your lungs, and the temp stays very steady throughout the vaping process. You'll never overcook your weed unless your temp is set too high. With practice, though, you can get very good efficiency from a whip vape.It just takes a little more work. And with a quality vape, toxins are much more a result of vaping temp than vape design. As for new vs. old Volcano, the new Digit is a few degrees more accurate in temp (as if plus or minus 5C on the Classic isn't accurate enough), has digital display, and auto shut off. On the downside, you get a two year warranty on the Digit, vs. three on the Classic. The five year warranty was a temporary deal that I think ended in '06 (anniversary promotion or something). And more electronics in the Digit means there's potentially more to go wrong. The lesser warranty says to me that Storz and Bickel is a little more worried about Digit reliabiltiy. Time will tell on that. The Classic, as far as I know, has been extremely trouble free. That's about the difference between the two. The new Easy Valve will work on either model. So motoxchamp, my answer/opinion/2 cts. worth on all your questions is no. If a Volcano is what you want, I'd get the best price on ebay I could find on a Classic, even if it's used. If buying new is important to you, I'd still buy on ebay. Just make sure the seller has lots of positive feedback. Stay away from potential 'hit and run' sellers. As long as you have a receipt, Storz and Bickel will honor the warranty, although I doubt you'd need it with the Classic. If the Digit's features are worth it to you, and you're willing to risk it on potential problems, go for it. $610 is the cheapest I've seen one go for on ebay though, vs. around $300 for the Classic. And if you're not set on a Volcano, you can get two vapes and have both delivery methods for about $350.

| Check out vapedaddy.com.. they sell volcanos cheaper than anyone on the net and are 100% legit. I own every type of decent vape on the market today... fit and finish and overall connsistency of flavor is unmatched by a volcano. with a whip vape.. every hit can taste different, becaue the rate of airflow is manually controlled by your lungs. with a "cano.. it's exactly where it needs to be every single time. dont get it wrong.. I love a whip style vape. I have a digital glass on glass whip vape that sits on my nightstand and gets used every day. but the volcano is the better product. it isnt just an opinion.. it's a technical fact. now if you add the Vapordome to the volcano.. you utilize everything positive about a whip style vape, but with volcano quality and heady glass style worked mouthpiece and whipset by " Cowboy" drive it like you stole it!! [mod note- no commerical links please.] Last edited by vern : 09-26-2007 at 06:56 PM. |

| Did you buy one yourself Sofa King? I am considering getting one myself but am on the edge really. I love the design, the color options ( I was gonna go black unit, lime green base), and the custom options I can get. I was debating on if I should go all out and get a custom bowl lime green tree frog to go on the top element. They have them on the site, pretty slick and I love frogs. What colors did you get? |
