Default Picking up a Vaporgenie this weekend

Pumped that I can get one for 40 bucks. Does anyone have one, and if so.... how are you supposed to use it, without the flame touching the ceramic? (Sorry if that made no sense, but that's what it says you shouldn't do in the diagram on the Vaporgenie site)

Getting the ceramic heated without the flame touching it is a goal not easily achieved. Using a regular butane lighter, it's difficult. You have to keep the lighter a good distance from the Genie and suck the flame down into the bowl. It's hard to keep the flame steady since your lungpower isn't steady. Your best bet for consistency would be to use a torch lighter. First of all, a torch gives you the steady flame you need, and it also burns cleaner and won't deposit soot on the ceramic like a standard lighter. Since you have to control both your breath (like with any other whip style vaporizer) AND the flame to get good results with a vape like this one, a steady torch flame makes it a lot easier to get good, consistent vapor hits. Plus, with a torch, you won't have to worry about excess carbon (soot) getting past the filter and into your lungs. You won't be sucking unburned butane with either type of lighter (that's a myth), but inhaling partially burned carbon isn't good for you. So I highly recommend a torch lighter for efficiency and safety. Then it just takes practice to get enough heat for vapor and avoid burning your weed. Harsh hits and black leftovers mean you're getting too hot. Too much heat and you can get smoke. You'll know if that happens.
