Default Which one would work best?

I've been doing some research on vaporizers trying to find out which one I should buy but I really can't decide. I'm looking to spend around $150. I have a few questions since I've only used a vaporizer once and it was about 3 years ago, the first time I smoked.
Does the vaporizer give off a smell as strong as smoking at any point? Like when it's heating the weed, does the smoke get out or is it contained?
I've seen some vaporizers like the vaporcannon (little wooden box) and have seen a lot of positive posts about it in this forum. How does it work? The only vape I used was the volcano and the vapor would go into one of those huge bags and you'd take it from there, but it doesn't look like that vaporcannon has a bag so how does it work?
Are they really loud while getting ready? I can always turn my TV up but I have no idea if it would be necessary.
Basically, when I smoke I don't like it to be known. I usually just relax in my room or go out for a walk. I usually smoke at night so that I'll get tired since I smoke partially to combat insomnia and partially because I like how it feels (of course), but I have to be stealthy about it since I haven't yet explained it to my parents about smoking often (I've told them I've smoked before and they know I'm responsible so I don't see them being pissed that I smoke, but I don't think a $150 piece of equipment for smoking sitting in my room would be a nice surprise; they also know I have insomnia). Anyway if any of these answers can be answered I really would appreciate it. A lot of people have said that you don't need to use as much weed for vaporizers as you do for other methods which is what really got me interested since I don't smoke much at night anyway, usually less then a little less then half a gram and I'm gone.

Any help is appreciated, and sorry if this doesn't make sense at parts, I'm a bit high right now and going to sleep soon.

Vaped weed smells delicious compared to smoke. Much less odor too. Like a dab of high test perfume compared to a horse barn. Not much vapor escapes from most vapes during the process, and smell is not really a concern compared to smoke.

Vaporizers are mostly either direct draw (Vaporwarez and others) or bag fill. Bag vapes use a fan or air pump and there is some noise, but normal TV volume would cover it. Direct draw, usually referred to as whip vapes, can also have a fan, but they're more expensive and the fan is mainly for stabilizing the temp. You still have to use lung power. Bag vapes are easy to use-just fill and suck. Whips, since you're using your lungs to draw the vapor, have more of a learning curve. If you hit it like a bong you can lower your temp too much and you won't get as much vapor-maybe none. Your bag vapes are fewer in choice and higher in price. There is the Vapir One (version 5 is the latest and best) at $150 for either direct draw OR bag fill, but reliability could be a concern down the road, since it has digital display AND and fan.

Vapor tends to provide a more energetic high than smoking, so vaping right before you intend to go to bed could end up prolonging your evening. Doesn't keep you awake like caffeine though.

Here's a 'how to do it' video on the standard box vape. We've got lots of threads here on various vapes. I'm sure they'll help you find one to suit you, or at least narrow your choices.

I actually took a look on ebay and saw a vaporcannon for $120 that came with a good amount of extras and free shipping. Item number 200184977597.

EDIT: the one above is $120, the hands free (200184977612) is $140.
What's the difference in usage between the hands free and the regular? Like, how's it hands free? what parts?

with standard you use one hand to hold the mouth piece to ur mouth,
and on the hold the weed to the heater.

with hands free it clips on the heater.

Oh ok, thanks a lot. I'm probably gonna end up waiting a week before I order it so I can use it for New Years.

The smell of vapor is much less noticeable than the smell of smoke. Smoke doesn't get out because there is no smoke. Some kinds of fan-driven vaporizers leak a little vapor.

The box contains a heating device inside a glass tube. One end of the whip has a screened chamber into which you put a little weed. You put that end of the whip against the source of hot air and suck on the other end. Hot air passes through the charge of weed, producing vapor.

Whip-type vapes have no moving parts and therefore make no noise.

The smell of vapors(or lack of) gets understated way to much. The truth is there is no comparison to smoking(smell, clothes, furniture and just air in the room). If someone blows vapor in your face you can smell it but otherwise its almost non-existent. If you vaporize and no one enters the room for 3 minutes, they would have no idea even if you did not use a air freshener. Smoke can linger for hours especially mj.

Some of the vapor hits you see on the web do have a small amount of smoke in them, it's a fine line. The video above where he says theres no smoke in it is sometimes inaccurate. I have lighter based units - 2 different types and one of them produces Extremely White Vapors both actually, that make some hits I see look like a smoke fire when talking about pure vapor. It may be that on a fast lighter based unit the herb heats up so fast that the ingredients get pulled off so fast theres no time for the slight scorching of the herbs if you don't exceed the temperature ceiling. I have a Hugegrin Pipeorizer, that produces some damn WHITE Vapors that look unbelievable when you exhale. You just think "That was a pure white Vapor hit". A lot of hits I see are 80% vapor and 20% scorch smoke. Pure White Vapors hit only stay visible for about 1 second while a lot of what you see is a mixture can be seen for 2 seconds while smoke can be seen for 5+.

I only smoke legal herbs, when I come to these forums and discuss things like smoking and the high one gets I'm referring to the feeling I get from legal herbs and have no information on what others are smokeing or reffering to. I don't smoke marijuana but do enjoy discussing and talking about legal herbs and the high from different legal smoking methods and all my post should be viewed in that light.

A hands free vape can be convenient, but keep in mind that leaving the whip connected to the heater tube raises the temp and cooks your weed faster. Disconnecting the whip between hits makes for better conservation of weed, but takes a little more patience for reheating. Kind of a trade-off. Hands free is great for mutilple users though. And the $120-140 Vapor Cannons on ebay are good buys from safe sellers. Another tip for this vape-it's fine to alter the position of the box to provide a horizontal angle for the heater tube and whip. Then your weed isn't in danger of falling down the whip.
