I think you're pushing it at "close to being black". The 12 o'clock setting is ok, but the temp is also determined by how long your bowl is in the unit. The bowl, and your weed, is 2.5" down into the hottest part of the heating chamber. The glass is cold if you hit it right away and you don't get much of anything. Leave the bowl in and a few hits later the glass is very hot and your effective vaping temp is considerably higher. Technically this vape is hands free, but if you'll take your bowl out after a good hit your weed will last longer and it'll be easier to stop when it looks more like milk chocolate than dark. With the AIW I usually just lift the bowl up with my thumb at the bend. Lighten up on the weed and see if it's easier on your throat. If you leave some medium brown in your leftovers you'll also be leaving some toxins in the weed. | |

The manual should be treated as a guideline, not gospel. The temperature controls are not calibrated and the appropriate setting varies from unit to unit. I've found that if I can see the heating element glowing, the temperature is set too high.

| If your temperature is set right, then no they shouldn't hurt your throat unless your specifically sensitive or something. |

| Ok I know what you mean. The best way is to vaporbong, which is just getting a whip and connecting it to your stem of the bong or if you have a volcano its even easier. Another way is to just drink a bunch of water while vaping. Taking a swig after every hit is nice. Also if you dont take in as much as you possibly can but instead you take in like 3/4 of what you can take in that helps. Also you may be vaporizing at too high of a temperature. The reason it hurts is because there is no H2O but when you smoke, combustion happens and you get H2O. Vaporbonging just adds water to it. |

| I really think you should try running it through water and it should solve this problem. Get normal water bottle and put your vape tube into the water just barely, then put your mouth over the tube and the normal drinking mouth spot and take your hits. It just is a really easy bubbler. Fill the bottle up close to the top and don't put the tube very deep, just make it barely go in (dont want to filter out THC, just cool the air and dryness). give that a test run, if that works, then you could buy or make a bubbler for your vape that is less makeshift than the way I described. hope that helps Last edited by G7Fsho : 02-25-2008 at 06:38 AM. | I want to try the water bottle filtration vap idea because I also suffer from dry throat...however I am not the world's most mechanical chick and am confused. I wish you could make me a diagram or something. I have a Vaporwarez...do they make bubblers for those? Oh...it seems that the whip style vap has made my TMJ pain (jaw area) worse. It's weird. I have a problem with that area from antidepressent induced teeth grinding and when I use the whip it gets really sore. I'm thinking of changing vap styles...I want something you don't have to pull deeply on to get a hit. I guess that's best saved for a "help me choose a vap" thread. |

Hey TokinChick! Are you related to tokinGLX? Sorry. Couldn't resist. ![]() Vaporwarez doesn't make a water filter adapter, but there are some available that would fit that size tubing and can be used with your warez. It's my experience (and I've used probably a dozen different vapes and owned 8 or 9) that dry throat from vaping isn't due to unfiltered vapor (as in too hot or too much vapor per hit), but instead caused by getting too much air with your vapor. I've found that, in general, the vapes that put out the highest vapor to air ratio (the thickest vapor) give the smoothest hits. The vapes that deliver more air and less vapor per hit are the ones that dry my throat the worst. And dry herb is noticeably worse than moist. My herbalAire, which is a basically a bag unit, dries me out more than my Vapolution, where only an 8 inch glass tube/bowl separates my mouth from the hottest part of the heating chamber. In fact, the Vapo gives me the smoothest hits of any vape I've used, just because it puts out a high vapor to air ratio. The only vape I've owned that was designed to filter the vapor through water is the Vaporsnake, and due to the large air chamber above the water, my hits had a lot of air and dried my throat out worse than the herbalAire by far. So IMO water filtration is way over-rated for preventing dry throat. And the temp of the vapor is not really an issue. The amount of air you get in each hit is a much bigger factor, for me anyway.

| I missed that. I was looking for the add on water chamber like Vapor Bros. has. I didn't look under 'glass parts' either, just accessories. Only $8 if you've got something it fits. Vapor Bros hydrator is $75. |
