Thats the beauty of a grinder though. Anything that falls off your bud goes into the bottom container. Better than putting your fingers all over the bud and having the trichs stick to your fingers. I'd bet that you couldn't tell the difference between vaping bud that was broken up in a grinder, bud that was hand busted and bud that was cut up in the vape. Atleast I have a nice amount of keif I can vape at anytime...gets you so stoned, I had to put the vape down after a few rips.

my bud goes from the plant to mason jars to my few days supply that is in a kiff box. are you telling me that you dont touch your herb at all¿ and yeah, kiff is nice(i keep a mini film canister of it around for good times sake), but bowl to bowl, same herb, the unground is more potent. that is just plain not an inaccurate statement.

It wouldn't break up completely inside the whip. I had to take it out to get it more broken up. In the long run, I am sorry I did it because it was a pain in the ass. Compared to just dropping a few pinches of herb from my grinder. And, I am not losing anything. I get every bit from my herb. Through kief, and when I soak my grinder in Iso alcohol.

This is true for the majority of vaporizers, but not all. Both of the vapes that I like to use, Vapolution and herbalAire, are designed to use pieces of bud rather than ground. In the case of Vapolution it's the bowl design-just a glass dimple acting as a screen. If a large piece is crammed into the bowl, air flow is indeed restricted and the back end and/or middle of the piece doesn't get fully cooked. But pieces the size of a BB or even smaller stay in the bowl just fine and get fully vaped. You just have to avoid finely ground herb that can get sucked past the dimple. While the herbalAire can handle finely ground material, it actually works better with pieces simply broken off a bud. Really fine particles can get past both the lower screen in the crucible/bowl and the screen in the main mouthpiece. It's incredibly efficient with even large pieces, and although cooking time can vary depending on whether you're using fresh, sticky bud, or dry mids, it's easy to tell when it's done, and it never overcooks. The color and consistency of the remains is always the same, thanks to the constant temp and airflow.

What is keif?
It's the best part.

Kief, Kef, Keef or kif refers to the loose, dried resin glands (or trichomes) of cannabis which accumulate on containers, in grinders, or have been removed with a kiefing screen or sieve. It is sometimes erroneously called pollen or crystal. Kief can be smoked in a number of ways, including using smoking pipes, bongs, and vaporizers. Kief contains a higher concentration of desirable psychoactive ingredients than ordinary preparations of cannabis buds from which it is derived.

Now are you basically talking about the resin buildup in the end of the whip? Or is this something that falls off the buds from grinding it? What does it look like?

Are you aware that high-quality marijuana is covered with little "crystals"? These are called "trichomes" and contain the greatest concentration of cannabinoids on the plant. When the trichomes are separated from the leaves and buds, the accumulation is called "kif". It looks like a powder ranging from off-white to tan in color. If pressed and heated, it binds together into hashish.

Easy to see in Secretblaze's pic.

The resin-I call it residue-is vapor that's condensed on the glass. It's worth harvesting too.
