Hey, I've been doing some research on buying my first vaporizer...I can't really afford a Volcano. I've read some good reviews on the SSV but am also intrigued by The EXTREME Vaporizer being sold by arizertech on ebay which seems loaded with features/bells and whistles and has got good seller feedback...Can anyone compare these two or suggest others in a comparable price range? Thanks,

As I mentioned in my last post, I just bought a Vapor Warez. It's got some favorable reviews on this forum, and it was a very good price. I'll post a review when I've used it. If you can wait that long -- a few days -- I'll let you know.

I recommend Da Buddha Vaporizer, its got the guts of the ssv but it doesnt cost so much. Of course you can get more custom glass pieces for the ssv but you can customize some of the Da Buddha too. Whichever you get, please give us a review and happy Vaping!!

With the Extreme you get both delivery methods. I can attest that it's a pretty nice whip unit, since it's a direct upgrade from the V-Tower, and I currently own that one. This vape has been tested and appoved safe by Underwriters Labs-the old UL sticker. Only a few other vape makers have gone to that expense, so this guy is serious. 2 year warranty and he says that a digital controller replacement/repair after the warranty period would only be $50, which is 'Extreme'ly reasonable. So if you like the idea of having both delivery methods, and I know I do, then this vape is a good buy. Especially if you're patient in buying from him on ebay. I've seen some auctions end at $249 instead of the 'buy it now price of $299.The herbalAire is similar to the Extreme-both delivery methods and $250 price. I love mine. But the hits on direct draw are convenient rather than comparable to a good whip vape. HerbalAire has outstanding customer service and is a proven, solid company that will be around for many years to come. You can't go wrong with the SSV either. Probably the nicest analog whip vape you can buy, and currently you get free shipping, black at the same price as silver, and the new aluminum base at no extra charge. I want one of these myself. Their new model, Da Buddha, has the same guts and quality, just hits a little differently, since the heater cover has a larger opening. With ground glass connection standard, it's a great deal for $160. So your most satisfactory vapor hits-thick and tasty-would come from the SSV (better than the Extreme, which gives you more air with your hits), but if you want the convenience and consistency of bag delivery, and are willing to compromise on the qaulity of the direct draw hits, go with the Extreme or herbalAire.

Thanks for the input 5 drive. I was considering a bag and direct draw setup originally and was considering the vapir 5.0. After seeing TolkinGLX video on the ssv I was hooked and while I was saving up the money they came out with the Da Buddha which I went for and couldnt be happier and really bags for me would rarely be used if ever after initially testing them as I do not do the party thing and whatnot. The only thing I would add, that no matter what you choose, vaping will become a valuable part of your lifestyle. I suggest if you are not wholly certain which to pick, keep on asking questions and take into consideration how vaping will be used in your lifestyle and pick on the model that best suits that. For me that answer was the Da Buddha and my happiness with it is based not only the quality product I believe it to be but because it matches my style so to speak and thus that is my best advice. Happy Vaping and I know 5 Drive and TolkinGLX can probably answer any question you may have, their advice and input has helped me much. Happy Vaping!

5drive, I'm one of those that got the extreme at $250. The versatility was the main factor for me. The seller mentioned that the battery unit will be available in march, so I won't be getting my unit until then. Hopefully I can review it sometime early next month. btw, do you have any suggestions on how finely/coarsely I should break/grind my weed? I don't have a grinder and I'm not too sure having one will improve my experience much. Last edited by dabu : 02-14-2008 at 09:25 PM.

I am just getting started too. I've been doing some research on vapors also. Has anyone tried the Airone 5.0 digital unit that I've seen on Gotvape? Now THAT seems like the best of all the worlds. You got adjustable forced air, a quartz crystall type element, you can direct hit or fill bags, digital heating, I mean, this thing sounds like the best thing out there. Here are a few other questions for you Vape Heads out there. Is it hard to get a good thick hit from a whip?. What do you like better, whip hits, ballon hits, or direct hits. Is forced air the best system out there since that is how the Valcano works, which to me seems to be the most effecient out there.

From what I understand, the thickness really depends on how much weed you put in the bowl. As for the "best" type, I think it really depends on the user and the way they're using it. I thought of a volcano at first considering it's reputation, but I don't think it would work well when flying solo since the bags are so big. | |

Thick hits from a whip vape are nothing out of the ordinary. You can decide if you want big hits or smaller tokes. It can vary depending on your tempurature, length of hit and how hard you pull and I'm sure the quality of your bud could play a roll too. As for what I like better, I can't really say. I own a Warez but the only other vape I've hit is a volcano. The cano would be better for more people but I like the tasty potent vapor from the whip.
