I remember when you could buy an SSV (from 7th floor) on ebay for about $165 (if you were patient in your auction watching). And that was less than 2 years ago. I don't know all the changes/differences that have taken place (they did make the control knob removeable a while back), but the price has obviously gone up. It jumped from $219 to $249 just recently. So the DB is really kind of filling the price point where the SSV started out. I do think vaporizers will continue to become more popular, and new trends do tend to move from west to east in the US (in general), but the internet is a big equalizer these days. Some vapes are going up in price, probably for different reasons. SSV? I don't know why, but it's gone up quite a bit in the last two years. Volcano wholesale prices have risen because of the value of the dollar vs. the euro. The Canadian dollar is now worth more than the US dollar (by less than 2 cts). HerbalAire (made in Canada) price hasn't gone up, at least at the retail level, but unlike 6 mos. ago, you can't get one for less than $249 unless some dealer has a 5% off sale or something like that. Vapolution price went up (about a year ago?) from $125 to 150 while sales were increasing. The high end Super Vapezilla has gone up from $500 to $550. Box vapes are getting cheaper because they're popular, easy to manufacture and lots of cheap Chinese boxes have been flooding ebay for some time. Stick to the big name brands here-the under $100 boxes are cheap because they're cheaply built with cheap parts, and could be dangerous to your health. It's obvious by now that some people in China are willing to use unsafe materials in their products to make more profit, and consumers are paying the price. Contaminated pet food, lead paint on toys-The Chinese rip-off of the VaporGenie, the VaporBuddy, has been found to contain lead paint. AND it's in the bowl area. Since the two are selling for pretty much the same price, please buy the Genie. Down the road I predict we're going to see some ingenious designs. There's already one for a butane powered vape that, if it ever hits the market, will leave the competition in the dust, and even rob sales from the electric powered market. And I think there'll be a lot more competition in the $100-300 price range. That's the range that buyers have made the most popular.

| I accidently hit the groan button while reading your post, 5drive. I then hit the button that says "remove your groan". There is still something appearing about "NO Thank you for this Un-Usefull post" but my username is gone so I assume it's gonna clear itself up. I'll check back later just in case . .I didn't mean to groan you! Anyway - thanks for the informative post. I am looking forward to some cool new portable designs. I hope the vaporizer market falls down into the sub 100 range, though. I think more than $100 is just plain unfair for any convection whip-style unit. I also do not place any value on give-aways like free grinders, etc. They are nice - but in my opinion do not increase the value of the product they accompany. Using a give-a-way to justify a higher price seems to defeat the purpose of give-a-ways. Not really "giving". They usually are crappy quality, anyway . .like who needs a crappy plastic grinder (such as comes with volcano)? Anyway, soon my soldering iron will be here and I'll get a chance to see what one can assemble at home in 5-10 minutes for about $35 (we'll say $60 if you need new glassware). My prediction is that it will work everybit as good as my vapor bros but not look as nice. We'll see, though. Should be here by next week. |

| Thats pretty much how I viewed it. I also dont really think, for myself, that the difference between a thicker hit from the ssv compared to that of Da Buddha is all the significant for me on price point. The Buddha is quite a bit cheaper when money is an issue and I can I say I love mine. Thats is also a bold statement from someone who has never experienced an SSV before so I am only surmising and I do not have a lot of experience with vaping so understand my point is sort of conjecture or more of an idea on the subject because I have no real experience or wisdom as my vaping experience is young. All I can say is I recommend Da Buddha. Coming from no experience with vapes and from smoking just plant material I am so very very pleased and couldnt be happier. |
