You know how after a while the screen in your whip begins to clog up, from the outside in, until you can't suck any air through it? At that point you clean the screen or replace it. The stuff clogging it up is good cannabis resin, some loose trichomes, and some bud dust.

I used to just burn it off. Then I started recovering the goodies with an alcohol soak. Tonight, I was contemplating my semi-clogged screen and it came to me that the stuff on the screen, if brought to the right temperature, will produce good vapor. The reason it's stuck there is that the layers of weed on top of it insulated it from the full effects of the hot air.

I put my unloaded whip up to the heat source and drew very slowly in order to get the heat zone further up the whip. It worked! I got a hit, but no visible vapor. I took a couple more. Same deal. I felt the hit but no visible vapor. When I looked at the screen, it was less clogged than it had been before. I cranked up the heat much higher than I would for weed. Then I got a couple of monster hits. After that it tapered off. When I checked the screen, it was almost clean.

The next time I run through this procedure, I'll try to take pictures of the screen before and after. I was surprised. It's kind of like the emergency tank on a motorcycle. You run out of weed but it can still take you that extra mile.

I've been doing this for quite awhile. I've found it to work amazingly good. Another iten I never contemplated using in the cleaning process was canned air duster. It can blast whatever is cloging your screen right out with a good, short, direct burst. Due to the PITA of changing screens, I've become somewhat of a Houdini when it comes to cleaning them. Canned air works though, and a clogged screen can even catch you a buzz or two if you heat them up hot enough. I generally turn my vape all the way up, then attach the whip (hands free). I can almiost always get a hoit or two, and a really dirty screenhas been enough to get both the wife and I as stoned as we cared to be!

I've never tried it, but it sounds like it just might work. I'll try it on Wednesday night, my next night off work. Thanks for the suggestion!

Nice ways to clean up screens!
Usually i put mine in grain alcohol and let in for a while.
When i take it from alcohol, i blow it and it is as new!

Usually before I start cleaning anything I just turn my box all the way up and start hitting the hell out of my whip. I can get 10+ real nice hits with visable vapor out of it. I am not sure if it is just the screen getting hit or the whip but it is a great way to catch a buzz when your dry.
