Default A video by me and two friends

I just wanted to share this with you and hopefully get some feedback.
It doesn't have much to do with marijuana, besides the fact that i was under the influence of it half the time during filming/post production.
So, enjoy, and share your thoughts. (and be nice, it's the first time i've attempted anything like this.)

Allrighty then.

So you asked us to be nice, But I feel that I need to be a bit honest with you because of the caliber on which I think you and your friends, as movies makers, seem to be.

I went in thinking it would be a weird ass movie, which are all over the internet, and i was not wrong on that prejudice, but. I was wrong on the idea that it would be bad.

I gotta say, that was one of the best "off-beat" movies I have ever seen. Right when It started i was already wanting to write this reply, because I just liked it off the bat.

The camera angles were very very good. Do you have any trainning in that? How old are you? Any schooling? Because I gotta say again, The angles were VERY good. And the timing of the angles too; I have to say though, that I could see where you were not a "hollywood filmer" and that you were not at the grade of "movie Maker god" by seeing the timing; in other words the Timing was Light years better than anything I can do, and better than about 80% of the stuff on the internet but, Was not at the grade of 100% perfect timing. I could see slight errors in timing but as the "first time i've attempted anything like this." ,as you said,; AMAZING TIMING AND ANGLES, hats off to you on that area.

The music was Nothing short of Perfect. For the type of movie you made there, the music could not of been picked out, edited in, or listened to any better. Amazing job there.

I am very impressed by this, I have seen some of your pictures of yourself on the "post your pics" thread, and I kind was expecting a good show, but you have beat my expectations.

The Scene with the Flower on the path, where the "2nd phase red shirted dude" is walking to the railroad tracks, was a great scene. For being a movie and movies are fake and all, the scenes were great at creating the "illusion" of reality, and not a movie.

What I want to say is, I have seen movies made by "starters in the Film creating field and (I dont like this word but) Amatuer Movie makers" And I just gotta say they were mostly crap, and Just plain old "out there" and weird. But to your movie, I gotta say it is a breath of Fresh air. Your movie was very good compared to the ones I have seen.

Now I have some Questions with the Plot? I guess you could say...

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SPOILERS ON THE MOVIE BELOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So the Main guy (the first red shirt, the guy who draws the picture) he is the past
persona of the "2nd guy in the red shirt"? (the guy wearing the white shirt.)? The Guy "grows up" or whatever, Submits himself to "the Man" (which is why he is wearing a White shirt, and not a colourful Rebelious shirt, Red shirt), He then finds the box when he is presumably moving out? then Realizes He still wants to be a kid? Or a Rebel? Because there is so many ways you can see "Following the man" as a bad thing, or a good thing.

He draws the picture of himself at the time he Is a "rebel" lets call it. He puts it in a box and continues his life. Later on when he has forgotten the path he was on (either he grew up, or he submitted himself) he finds the box when he is Moving out I'll say. He wants to be his old self again, and goes and changes into a red shirt, then Leaves.

Oh I gotta ask, What is with the Belts? Are they capturing the First guy? So he did not want to keep himself in the box (His old persona)? Or Am I wrong on the Whole persona thing, and The first guy (guy in the box) and the second guy (guy out of the box) are two differenet people? Or is it just that, that is how his persona got trapped (contained) into the box and the belts are just your way of showing how his persona was put in it? What I wanna ask is are the belts significant?

Ok he goes to a park, and starts playing on the structure, which would now support my idea on him not wanting to grow up, for he is playing on a stucture that is intended for children and he is not a child. But then a person shows up and starts lighting it on fire...Why?

Who is this person? Just some crazy person who lights things on fire? Or is it a person who sees that this boy is going back into a child phase and he/she is tryign to save him by burning the box? OR is it a person who is, Like the guy out of the box before (when he had a white shirt), who has submitted themselves to "the man" and is an agent nonetheless trying to sabatoge the reawaked Red shirted guy but making him go back to the "white collared side".

The red shirt (outside) guy stops him/her and is on his way to wherever. He goins through the Flower scene (awesome scene) and reachs the rainroad, where he leaves the box and walks down the tracks. You then show up and take a picture of the box, Move it, take another picture and are on your way. (kind'a like a cameo that Alfred hichcock did in him movies; No real addition to the plot itself, but is in the movie anyway :P) Then The camera follows you, and I gotta say, That was another greate scene, of the grass and the railroad tracks.

Then the weird shit happens.

(OH I forgot about the time he drops the box in the water, Which is before the railroad but after the Structure, I felt that was just a Support scene.)

Weird shit, ok. He goes back, and opens the box (why didnt he do that in the start?) then I am guessing Some sort of Infinite takes place. The railroad guy opens the box to see the guy inside the box, and the guy inside the box opens a box ot see the guy on the railroad openign the box, and so on for infinite. Cool ending, but I dont get it completly.... If you could help me on the ending, I would like it because this Is a good shirt movie, and I do wanna know what happened to the guy in the red shirt.

END OF SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So yes, Over all a really suprisingly good movie. I Do want to see more of yours, and maybe, just maybe, add a little weed into your next movie

ALSO I Understand your "tranistion scence" from Guy outside box's world, to show the Guy inside the box's world being a staic interupption. While effective, I found it annoying, and kind'a weak. I think you could make it much more......Melo

We have absolutely no training. The guy (white shirt) got the camera not too long ago. He's done a few other short videos, but not that many. We're all fifteen, and we have no schooling on this kind of stuff.

As for the plot, after reading your interpretation of it, I wish we would have thought of that. There's not a lot of symbolism.
Red shirt guy dies, white shirt guy comes to clean up his stuff and finds the box.
The whole idea of the movie was to just have a box with someone trapped inside and kind of show what happens inside as things are happening to it outside. So, the fire was just another thing that we chose to have happen tot he box.
As for the belts, it was just a spur of the moment thing. We needed the guy in the red shirt to die somehow, and he came up with the idea, so we decided, why not? His persona got trapped in there when he put the drawing in, which also killed him that same night.
You're pretty much spot on for the ending. The box gets opened when the train runs over it, and he comes out of the box, like he was never dead, just trapped.

As for the weed, I would gladly include it in any video I make, but the guys I work with don't smoke. The guys in the white shirt doesn't know I do, and the guy in the red shirt knows I do, but he's straightedge...

Overall, thanks for the review and sharing your thoughts. I will definitely take everything into consideration as I further develop my skills and whatnot.
I have passed on your words to the guys, and I'll let you know what they have to say about it.

I don't know when I'll be making anything else. I might collaborate with them on the next project like I did with this one, but I don't have my own equipment. I plan on getting a camera, I just don't have any money right now.
