| Oh, I don't know about that. Addiction to me is a psychological dependence. This dependence can be caused by the change the drug (or whatever we are talking about) causes to the chemical interactions in your brain and the reaction when that drug is removed from the equation or there are folks that just are addictive personalities. They feel the need to chase the good feeling and miss it severely when absent. The latter would be in line with your quote, but the former is not under their control. As opposed to physical dependence, which includes physical withdrawal symptoms, usually seen in much harder drugs than cannabis. I consider myself a pretty strong willed, disciplined person, and I have to admit that an off topic white powder kicked my ass about 20 years ago. As well, nicotine is a drug I have yet been able to kick and it ain't from lack of trying. ![]() I don't think addiction or dependence can be a cookie cutter definition. I think it depends on each persons metabolism and make up.

| True that Plains, maybe Green-Lantern was referred to addiction in terms of Marijuana. Since it doesn't seem to cause a chemical imbalance. I'll never start a nicotine addiction, especially after my "my first cigarette" experience, but that thread was closed due to me bein an idiot. lol |

| Do you always jump to generalizations? Who says I HAVE to get high at school? I choose to get high at school, just like you choose to get up in the morning, just like you choose to smoke weed as well, just like you choose to post on these forums.

| well what exactly is an addiction?....a physical one is simple, but a mental one is so complex. people crave happyness. it seems like an addiction is only when its for too much of a negative thing.ever here of people addicted to exercising?..i have one of my friends( who used to be my friend) spends all his extra time exercising . his cycle is school-football-exercise-sleep. and thats it no real human interaction. i think its cause he loves the attention. or what about people that wicked into school, they prolly get rewards and lots of positives things for doin good in school which turns into happyness. people can get addicted to any kind of happyness no matter what it comes from. drugs are so easy to access and require no work at all, just light and thats it. so my oponion is u can be addicted to anything.(anything that brings happyness which could be anything) just my thoughts |

| This guy is a freakin moron. "Let's say our smoker decides to stop smoking weed right away, let's take all the THC out." Bullshit. Your body stores the THC in different areas (your fat cells) so that when there's no THC coming in, there's still a supply for when the brain is craving. So unlike nicotine, which is just "GIVE ME A DAMN CIGARETTE AND STFU!!" Coming off of marijuana is WAY easier because even tho you aren't smoking, your body is still pulling THC to kill cravings. Right? That's the way I always understood it. I've had to quit smoking a bunch of times and never had a problem. I've tried to stop smoking cigarettes also, and goddamn.. Nothin doin. Also, tons of chronic pot smokers quit all the time for weeks at a time just to clear out the THC and get the brain functioning normally again (most often so they get way more trashed when they smoke again, LoL). Marijuana addiction is not a problem, IMO. I've never had, or knew anyone that had a HUGE STRUGGLE to kick weed. It's pretty damn easy, you don't get edgy or bitchy and it's nothing like cocaine. |

| The only way I see Marijuana as being addictive is as psychological addiction. But it only applies to specific people in some circumstances. Compare it with video games for instance. Your body doesn't crave it, but you simply enjoy doing it. Except with marijuana, some people people treat as a big deal and can't simply just drop it, but other people treat it like it's as normal as any other everyday thing. Same with video games. Some people will enjoy a video game drastically and can't put the controller down, yet some people appreciate its qualities and have other things to do. Was it just me, or did that guy look like a midget in a regular size body? Just compare his face to a midget's, lol. And yes, buy some freakin' tweasers. |
