I don't know if they had 2 marijuana episodes or of this was the only one and some stuff was left out. If there were 2 different episodes maybe one was about medical use and one was about recreational use. A few years ago I watched some of it on tv and I think Smithers and Homer both smoked a joint. I don't think they showed just Homer gettin baked. Not sure if it was banned from tv, but it definatly doesn't get aired much.

I love The Simpsons, but I don't like this. It makes out like medical cannabis users are irresponsible and stupid. At least that's what I got from it.

Homer Simpson is stupid and irresponsible not medical cannibis users

It should also be said that in this episode Homer didn't just take a few hits, even it for was for medical reasons, they still made it out like he just used it to get stoned legally. Real life medical marijuana users, maybe not all of them, but theres probably more than just a few that just don't smoke enough to get really stoned and just smoke what they need to help with whatever sypmtoms they have. In other words, maybe just taking a few tokes and aren't smoking bowl after bowl. They had him smoking every chance he got. Sure it's just a cartoon, but we have people always arguing that legal medical use of marijuana will just cause people to abuse that right just to get stoned legally. Not that it should matter anyway because even legal prescription drugs get used by people that don't need them for medical purposes. Legal or illegal, it's going to happen and can't be prevented no matter what.

The way they made the episode, Homer just brags that he can legally smoke pot and that it's just for his eyes. They didn't make him out to be a moderate medical marijuana user, but a complete burnout.

Yes, exactly!! That is why I do not like it. It is sending the wrong message, and the way stupid people think, it could set things back, or keep things from going forward in legalization for medical cannabis. I really hope it doesn't.

I will say again, I do still love The Simpsons.

Family Guy is great too.

Yes, this does make medical marijuana users look bad. However, let's keep it in perspective, here. First of all, this is the Simpsons we're talking about. I can't recall the last time the Simpsons (or any other TV show, for that matter) was cited as a reliable source. TV is generally not indicative of actual behavior, views, and attitudes. Also, that was just a portion of the episode. Generally, there's usually a pretty moderate message that wraps it all up. I know I've seen it, but I can't recall if there's an overt message or not. So, I'm in the process of acquiring the episode, and I'm going to watch it tomorrow. I'll see if there's a redeeming point somewhere in the episode, and I'll report back tomorrow. I'm pretty sure there is. I mean, I certainly picture the Simpsons writers smoking pot, don't you?

Hah i love this episode but i do agree that it makes medical marijuana users look like people who are using it as an excuse to get high. I love the part where Phish smells weed and demands to see a doctors note
