|  How to Charge an iPod using electrolytes and an onion This video tripped me out. I don't understand the science, but I'm sure its actually rather simple. Might come in handy incase you don't have a computer to charge your iPod on, hahaha. I thought it was worth sharing, let me know what you think. I don't have an iPod otherwise I might give it a shot.

| A lot of people are calling bullshit on the Household hacker (the guy who posted this and other videos), saying he doesn't know what he's talking about. From some of the other videos I've seen from him I'd have to agree, if you have any technical background search his videos and you should spot a few that don't make any sense. |

Another way of doing this would be to use a lemon, a galvanized nail and a penny. The nail and the penny are inserted part-way into the lemon and act as the terminals. The acid in the lemon breaks down the metals of one of the two (I believe its the nail), the electrons released travel to the penny creating current of about 1 - 1.5 volts. Another thing that gets me is that I really doubt you can get 3.7 volts from one onion, assuming this process does anything at all. You could charge/operate an ipod using the lemon battery, but you'd have to use three lemons in a series to get enough voltage. | |
