Although it comes across a little extreme to me I do quite agree with the entire consumerism part. We certainly have become a society based around buying stuff; especially around holidays.

But in some ways it could only happen if we wanted it. The light bulb has to really WANT to change.

I think that is one of the most important messages in this video.

I think it really peaked my interest because it touched on things that I have been thinking about a lot lately.

For instance, this year, for some reason, Christmas has really.....really started to bother me. I am seeing it more as nothing but a holiday of greed and consumerism. It has really changed a lot since I was a kid, and that was only 15 years ago!

I have decided to celebrate Yule this year, I am going to go and find a Christmas branch that has fallen and decorate it with hand made items...and the marijuana Christmas lights that my sister gave me...its not really a Yule tradition...but I like it better than cutting down a unsuspecting baby tree.

I am only giving one thing each to people that I love, and am not expecting anything in return...other than something like a small offering like mine. I think thats how Christmas should be, but instead its full of greedy big box store owners and spoiled kids that throw a fit because they only got 20 presents this year.

And see that's what gets me too. I really do like Christmas. I like going over to the inlaws and eating dinner and playing games with the kids and just creating fun, joyful memories!

I was thinking about it lately too that commercials aren't just there to entertain you, they are specifically engineered to attract your attention to their product to sell to you. And though that sounds pretty simple and straightforward it appears at times that our fellow human beings don't realize the puppetry at work. Hell I even catch myself, "Shit, I don't need to buy this, I don't need it!"
