I was using Bundy as an example of a crazy man who could easily get in the military because you don't seem to think these people exist. Well, they do. THAT's why I used Bundy as an example, understand that? I have to be specific because otherwise you won't grasp what I'm saying, as you said. And yeah Ng was discharged for violating rules, and so will that guy who tossed the puppy, but that doesn't stop them from doing what they do. The fact is that they're crazy, and they got in the military. You said crazy people can't get into the military. Well you are wrong.

I don't support the troops regardless of what they do.

I support the troops inherently. If they fuck up, they are frowned upon worse than a regular person, in the same way an Officer of the Law is.

What if someone joins the military for sick-selfish intentions and have only joined to exploit the position of power? See... we should NOT respect anyone just because they join the military, or the police service. That's what the whole "It's the American way" sentence was all about. You blindly give your respect to these mentally ill people. I have a great deal of respect for soldiers who do their duty, for cops who are dedicated to protecting and serving, but the fact is there are a lot of bad people out there in these positions of power.
If you can't agree with that well then you're just stupid.

No, you used Ted Bundy as an example because you were attempting to use the Straw Man fallacy, you couldn't come up with an example off the top of your head, so you used him.

Later, you found Charles Ng, and used him instead.

Comparing Charles Ng and the Marine who killed the puppy are completely different.

I seriously doubt that this marine will be discharged. He'll more likely be punished by being thrown in a cell for a few months, or being reprimanded in some other way.

I said the Military administers Psychological tests. Very different things.

Um no... again as I said I used Bundy as an example because he is the perfect example for the point I'm trying to make. And I did not go and "find" Charles Ng's story to back my arguments up. He's an extreme case of the kind of people we're discussing and I saw a documentary on him years back. And the reason you said the military adminsters testing is because you were trying to tell me that crazy people do not get into the military.

I agree with Vicki. No one is putting words in your mouth. If you think others are "generalizing" then I suggest you not generalize yourself, so that your points are clear and concise.
Frankly, I find your premises interesting but rather all over the place.

He is intelligent and is typically quite erudite in his commentary. That doesn't mean he needs to share your opinion.
While it is a fact that there have been U.S. soldiers accused and convicted of the rape of children it is hardly a fact that such isolated incidents are any more a factor of the U.S. military than others over there sharing the burden...

Wait, didn't you just say you don't remember making that statement?
A generalization "All people in the military are mentally ill." In fact, you have not shown that anyone in the military is mentally ill, with the exception of Charles Ng, who was Dishononrably discharged. You literally just said "I'm right and you're stupid."

Such a mature and educated argument.
