I still don't understand the reasoning behind the 6 groans. The title in itself should give everyone the idea of what they will be seeing if they choose to watch the video. You all knew that you'd be seeing a United States Marine throw a puppy off of a cliff. Don't act too surprised about it.

And no, I don't condone the video, I watched it, but I knew what I'd be seeing ahead of time.

On a side note, I'm 99% sure the puppy is dead. In the middle east, dogs and cats aren't known for being pets. They run stray in the streets of Cairo by the thousands because they're not at all domesticated because people simply don't have pets larger then a hamster. That is just Cairo though, but chances are it's the same in Iraq. If a guy can't feed his family well, why would he use the money on a pet. Plus, look at the puppies legs, they don't move one bit, not even a trembling movement when the marine is holding him. When the puppy is thrown, you'd expect to hear whimpering from fear. When you hear the noise, it doesn't fade away as it gets further and further from the camera.

Cool

A video showing a dog being dumped off a cliff, alive or dead, is still animal cruelty, in my opinion. People are getting upset about a dog being killed but forget all the civilians that are killed in Iraq every week.

That's something to be upset about....

I take offense at the Marine baiting as well. I am an ex-Marine and god damn proud of it. If this is real, don't throw out the baby with the dishwater. The Marine Corps as a unit are our finest, most dedicated troops. One's actions do not make an entire Marine Corps dog killers.....

Although dog is a tasty meal.......... Especially if your hungry.....

One other thing. If your only reason to even be on the site is to dis me, dis away. You do not contribute to the site any other way, so screw you......

Boy, am I in a good mood, huh.......

I didn't make up those sayings about Marines that I posted here. My Dad told me about them many years ago. My Dad retired from the Navy after 30 years, and apparently Navy people don't care for Marines. These saying must be very, very old, as my Dad was 16 years old when he went into the Navy in 1945. I was a Navy brat for a while, when I was young. Those sayings have to be at least 1/2 a century old, older.

Man, it's fucking bullshit for one that you guys jump on glorious for posting this video. It's a legitimate thread. Seeing that makes me extremely upset. This is all over the media, so him posting it here is justifiable. If you don't like it or don't want to talk about it, skip it - just like you would change the channel, or press mute. We boast about our tolerance and understanding at this forum..... Honestly, I think people should remove their groans - he has explained himself, even though they were absolutely uncalled for in the first place.

As far as the video, I find it absolutely disgusting. I watched it and thought it was terrible what that soldier did. I hope he and his friends get in trouble for doing something like that, and especially making a video out of it - they obviously derived some sort of sick pleasure from killing an animal like that. It's very likely this bloody war has had an effect on their minds.

Plainsman, dedbr, and Rookiesmoker all make a good points and I'd say I agree with just about everything they said in their last posts.

Thanks Vicki....I know your heart is in the right place. I know I am prejudice when it comes to the Corps, and your right Vic, the Marine Corps being part of the Navy has been a problem for years.....But ask any Navy man if he would give his life for a Marine. Since they supply the Corpsman that supply medical assistance to our troops in the field, I guess you know that Navy men have already done that......

No offense meant to you Vic.....I just like to get to the Corps of the matter, so to speak.......

I'm pretty sure it's real. Here's the suspected puppy murderer:
Crime & Federalism: David Motari Abuses Animals?

There is a serious investigation and many marines are outraged by the video. Please don't think all marines are like this, I myself have read many articles of marines bringing dogs home from Iraq, as well as committing other acts of altruism. Here's one:
Dog Saved By Marine Gets Permanent Home , Dog Finds Something To Bark About After Marine Rescues Him From Iraq: He's Heading To Calif. - CBS News

Wow I have been seriously thinking about joining the Marine Corps and its nice to know that if I do you will resent me.

If the dog is in fact alive then what he did is cruel, yes, but its really not that bad compared to the animal cruelty that goes on almost everywhere throughout the world, mostly in third world countries, but also in modern countries like Spain (ie bullfighting) and cruel animal testing which most likely goes on around the world. I myself dont condone animal cruelty at all but its a part of human nature and history and I think this is being blown way out of proportion.

And if the dog is dead I personally dont feel like he did anything wrong...how would that be different than throwing a dead fish back into a river...because the dog is cuter and they are common domestic pets in America?

And why do you think all Marines are bad? Videos like this only represent a small portion of soldiers. What about these guys?

That soldier just said he "is going to whoop that kid's ass" at chess, you shouldn't post videos like that, 'the parts apparently represent the whole' - remember?

Apparently this post offended Dark, I'm sorry. It was merely trying to bring some light into a shady situation.

It was not my intent to offend any one individual, but when Marines are doing stupid shit like this, they sure fit that bill. Unfortunately, this incident is making all Marines look bad.

I will admit I am partial to the Navy as my Dad was a career Navy guy, and I didn't even mention my husband is also ex-Navy. I'm sure that explains a lot, huh? It's not a job, it's an adventure!

My husband did say he'd give his life for a Marine, but also added he'd give his life for any branch of the military. My Dad has passed away, so I can't ask him, but I know he would have said yes too.

I never said I resent anyone. If you had read my previous post, you would see that I said I did NOT make up these sayings.

Here, let me copy and paste my own post here again so you can read it:
