Let's hope he gets some sense as he grows. This reminds me of another kid around 7 years of age, I think he's local, but he stole his moms car keys and drove to the store to get cheerios.

I'm not sure what is funnier, that kid stealing the car or this guys response

YouTube - Re: Seven-year-old goes on joyride

In all seriousness though, this is pretty ridiculous. The parents are to blame to a certain degree in raising the child and leaving the keys out, but in reality I blame it all on that kid, he knew what he was doing, and he didn't care. Hopefully the kid gains some sense before he hurts himself or worse, kills someone else.

this reminds me of the time when i was like 4 or 5 and my brother dared me to start my parents car. So I got in the car and let go of the parking brake. Needless to say it was on a hill and it rolled right down into a chain link fence. Don't even remember my parent's reactions, but they laugh about it now.

i blame the parents TBH. he's only 7. the parents have been his major influence for the past 7 years... leaving the keys out has nothing to do with it IMO, you don't keep keys out of reach of 7 year olds for fear that they'll take a ride in your car. if he was older, i'd blame him, but given that he thinks his punishment should be no video games for a 'whole weekend' prove to me at least that he's probably never been properly disciplined and definitely has no respect for his mother or grandmother ("i took the car because i was mad at my mom..."), which also says something about his ability to manage his anger: something that whoever is parenting him can only blame themselves for with a young child. he may have known it was wrong, but i really think he seemed so nonchalant about it because he wasn't afraid to get punished. if a 7 year old isn't afraid to get punished, it seems to me that it's probably because he's gotten off so easy in the past.
