Ok, I just picked up my first glass piece today at lunch and now that I've gotten it home and had a closer look at it, I'm confused. This piece is a sweet little glass mini bong that's about 8 inches tall. The bowl and the tube that the bowl sits in (don't know the terminology) are all glass. Here's the thing though, no carb. I'm relatively new to smoking, so I'm not sure if a carb is required, or how to use a bong that doesn't have one.
I checked to see if maybe lifting the bowl out acts as a carb, but the tube the bowl and stem fit into nearly touches the bottom of the water chamber, so even when the bowl and stem are completely removed, you're still drawing air through water.

I bought an acrylic bong a month or two ago that also didn't have a carb, but I drilled one in before I used it. If I don't have a carb, how do I clear the chamber?

The way mine works is you pull the stem after the big hit and suck in the air which goes thru the water. I've only smoked out of my bong but I'm pretty sure that the others work the same way, or a lot of em at least.
