| Has anyone tried the pyrex screens jax or flowers? Any opinions or suggestions and are they better than the pipe screens you can get at the tobacco store..? Thanks ![]() |

| If you're talking about those wired metal gauzes, then yes, the glass screens are much better than those, if you have a glass pipe.

| you mean those really tiny glass jacks you buy for like $5 at a head shop and lose within a week? ![]() right now i'm using a regular screen in my bong, was a little reluctant due to heat issues but it works fine sometimes i just break shards of glass and use those instead, cheap solution for my pipe i think i'd rather one of these.. broken glass is hard to really position in my pipe while getting good air flow, dunno if these would work either though it would definitely be more durable than a regular screen, just gotta make sure you don't lose it when dumping the ash in your tray |

| Yes they are better. Glass is always more pleasant than metal. I've never used a metal screen in a glass pipe. Glass screens work well, and although they will run you a lot more than metal screens (the store in my area sells glass screens at $4/each) they are meant for glass pipes and work best. |

| I have a ton of these little glass flowers, all clear, no color like these. I prefer the flowers over the jacks for some reason. I've never lost one of my screens, but I have accidentally broken one while cleaning it after it soaked in alcohol.

| i've probably lost two of them so far, but i've broken plenty of pipes while trying to clean the resin out also broke a bong by trying to clean it with boiling water... very dumb idea i just shouldn't be allowed to clean my pieces anymore i haven't really noticed a difference in taste but i would like to have a taste test comparison using my glass and my screen (which isn't even a screen so much as a torn off piece of what used to be a screen) |

| I've never broken a pipe cleaning it. I soak my pipes in alcohol for a couple days, and rinse in hot tap water. I do use a pipe cleaner, but nothing more, and they come out looking brand new. Have you tried soaking in alcohol? |

(isn't it amazing how much lighter it feels every time you clean the resin, really scares me about how much resin is collecting on my lungs) anyways, i can't use alcohol at home since .. well, the burning of the alcohol process really reeks and i don't have a pan of my own to infect with resin i really need a pipe cleaner, what causes me to break them is when i'm trying to get out the clogged chunks of resin with a paper clip or a brush sometimes i'll just use mouthwash and hot water to clean the inside but that really makes it smell and it's hard to dry it out i remember one time i found this wood/bone type of pipe in my basement, the type with the really long stem kind've like an opium pipe where you bite off the end every time you use it well i put that on my computer chair one day and i was like "i'm going to sit on this when i get back upstairs" ......... needless to say...... of course i broke it another time after that trying to clean it too but the coolest pipe i had was this grandfather pipe my friend gave me and my mom found and took like a week later, that sucked because it was like such a huge spoon bowl that if you had shake, you could just scoop from your bag and its packed | |

Second, when cleaning glassware with rubbing alcohol, you're not supposed to burn it. You soak the lass in the alcohol and allow it to act as a solvent. If you need an abrasive to scrape off the caked-on chunks, ass some salt and swirl it around.
