| Bought a PURE double perculator bong which is about 2ft. tall and it broke last night. Have not hit it, bumped it, done anything which would cause it to break. We have only had it 9! days. When I was pulling the stem out to change the water, the part around the stem which holds it in place, broke off with it, about an inch down. It just came off in my hand, barely using any force to pull it off. You can see in the pics where it broke, and how it looks to be a manufacturer defect. The bottom half, is extremely thin, paper-thin even, and it looks like that is the culprit. I contacted the place we bought it from, Outer Edge Gifts, in Newport News Virginia, and he told me basically, "i'm fucked." There is nothing he will do, no exchange, no refund, no nothing. I explained that if I showed it to him, he could see himself that it was a defect and it was too thin. He of course said that it was a state law to not take any "tobacco product" back, and that he wouldn't do anything about it. He also wouldn't give me any contact information for PURE or ADS. He said there should be a website, yet I can't find one nor he hadn't been there either. He told me to get some gorilla glue, but since it was so thin, when i tried to glue it back together, it broke apart more since the glass at the bottom is so brittle. To me, it seems like it is an obvious manufacturer defect, yet there is nothing he will do. What should I do?!??!?!?!?!?! http://www.stonerforums.com/lounge/a...9-dsc02047.jpg http://www.stonerforums.com/lounge/a...9-dsc02048.jpg |

| That really sucks. I would keep searching for that website. There has got to be some way to get in contact with them. I would reccomend you clean it and make sure there is no smell of marijuana on it, as it is intended for legal smokeables and they may not accept it, and might even call the police if it smells of an illegal substance. | |

| Like it or not, the owner of the shop would be risking his entire livlihood by allowing you to return a used pipe. Manufactures defect or not, he's powerless to do much, short of giving you store credit, which is NOT a common thing to do for a glass shop. If every shop owner repleaced every pipe someone broke, it wouldn't make for a very high profit margin. I realize this wasn't your fault, but your ONLY chance would be the company itself. I've actually seen signs in various headshops telling you to look over your piece VERY carefully before handing over the money, because, even in the case of obvioous flaws, they cannot take the pipe back or provide refunds. Headshops are truely a "buyer beware" situation

| Welcome to the boards bob! Its very unlikely that any shops will take pieces back. But I also live in the tidewater Virginia area. There is a glass shop in Norfolk that I have exchanged pieces before, but it was a next day type of thing. Bought a diffuser that didn't fit so we brought it back and got a smaller one. Id you would like the location of this shop I can tell you. Just PM Me. They have better glass Selection, although the price might be a little more. Also If you would like me to personally repair the bong I will. Cause Im pretty good at it. Im located in Va Beach. PM Me.

| How do you know this is an actual PURE bong? If the dude is a liscensed vendor for PURE bongs ( a well known and prestigious company in the water pipe industry) he should hook you up with their contact info. My guess : it's a cheap knockoff and he doesn't want the company to know he's advertising knock-offs as their product. I've never seen an official PURE website. I'd throw the bong away, count your losses and get a new one. Avoid that headshop, sounds shiesty.

| Thanks everyone for your responses! To answer a few questions: He is a vendor for PURE yes, and he said that since they don't sell to the public and are wholesalers only, that he had no information he could give out. I still think he should have some type of contact info, but he said no. As for checking the thickness of the glass, it would have been impossible to see if it was too thin. It was the only part of the entire water pipe that you would not be able to guage thickness, since the part where the stem went into was bubbled out. The rest of the it looked perfect, and you were only able to see how thin the glass actually was on that part when it broke. Darkfan, you've been pmed! | Fixed it with mighty putty, doesn't look as nice, but it works perfectly! I recommend anyone who breaks their water pipe to use mighty putty, extremely cheap, and fixed it right up! ![]() ![]() ![]() Setup before: http://www.stonerforums.com/lounge/a...9-dsc01980.jpg After it was fixed ![]() http://www.stonerforums.com/lounge/a...9-dsc02051.jpg http://www.stonerforums.com/lounge/a...9-dsc02052.jpg Yes, I etched initials in there haha. I'm gonna probably sand it down and clean it up once everything has hardened completely. ![]() |
