Default Cotton Trapped in my little glass bubbler

I was cleaning my piece the other day with a q-tip and a rather large piece of cotton came off and dropped into the chamber as I pulled the q-tip out (my bad ha ha). There is absolutely no way to remove it without risking damage to the glass other than adding a liquid that will dissolve it.

Does anyone have any suggestions that would work, yet be safe to use?

I would use a pipe cleaner to try and fish out the piece of cotten.

Maybe burn it out? I mean, if you could get some kind of fire into the chamber, maybe like a blow torch, just enough to scorch the cotton?

My only concern would be cracking the glass, but if you heat up the whole piece first it shouldn't... I don't know

Thanks for the advice vicki and homemadebubbler but that won't work. The hole is too small to try and fish or burn it out.

I'll probably have to post a photo so that you guys can understand and see why it will be next to impossible to fish it or burn it out. The cotton is way down in the chamber and the tube that leads from the bowl to the chamber is very very narrow. I cant go in through the mouth piece either as the pipe is a "sherlock" style and there are too many twists and turns.

Fill your pipe with water, shake it around a bit to get the cotton moving or unstuck and try to wash it out with the water

Even if its narrow, flame will make its way down (especially from a low heat type torch). All you need it to have the flame lick the cotton, and it should go up.

The flame from a torch could easily reach 4 inches, and would go down even the most narrow downstem. Again, the only problem would be the glass cracking.

If its such a big deal, just don't worry about it. It will eventually break down in water/alcohol from cleaning

Boil it.

Be careful so that the pipe doesn't have any rapid tempature changes and just let it sit in there, you can carefully jostle it around and the cotton will come out to the top with the bubbles.

If anything it'll be clean as it gets.

You might be able to blow out the cotton after filling the pipe with water or use the high pressure from an outside hose with a narrow nozzle.

If all else fails, get some muriatic acid (hydrochloric) at the hardware store, put the pipe in a glass, and fill 'er up. The acid will eat the cotton, not harm the glass, and be easily rinsed out.

Be careful if you use the acid. Wear rubber gloves and safety goggles. It's strong enough to burn your skin or blind you if you get splashed. It will also burn holes in your clothes. Basic acid-handling requires that you never pour water into acid. It can "explode", spraying acid all over the place.

As they taught me in high school chemistry, "Do this thing the way you oughter. Pour your acid into water."

is the cotton stuck in one place or is it freely moving arround in the chamber?. if you can try and shake it near the carb or mouthpiece, then plug the hole in the downstem and blow hard. if its close enough to either hole the wind pressure will pull the cotton into the hole and the pressure build up will make it pop out.
