so I've been thinking about getting my first water pipe (i've only ever had dry peices before) and while surfing a few websites i've noticed that all but the expensive bongs have carb holes instead of slider pieces. I really don't want a carb bong, and that's part of the reason I'm looking to buy one and move away from my home-made pieces. (usually made with a light hitter chillum as the bowl and a carb in some kind of plastic bottle)

So for certain reasons it's hard for me to get out to a head shop right now (I wrecked my car), and i'm just wondering if this is true in headshops as well? because i'm looking to get a small bong for under $40, but if they're all using carbs at that price then i'm just going to have to abandon hope.

and this is actually surprising to me, because i've never actually seen someone with a carb-bong before (other than home-mades), so why are they selling them everywhere?

40 dollar budget for glass bongs might have carbs, but there's a lot that don't u just gotta find em.. wat sites r u trying out?

I was looking at grass city and Glass pipes water bongs one-hitters spoons bubblers grinders I haven't looked at very many different websites because I was planning on just going to a headshop when I get my car fixed anyway. unless anyone here knows where I can get a slide bong for cheap online?

I don't want to spend too much on a bong because I will still need to buy something to smoke in the bong too. So then even at a head shop most bongs for under $40 will be carb bongs?

I wish I knew someone who just had a few extra bongs laying around I could get from him/her for cheap.

i think most acrylic bongs have sliders but most glass bongs under the 40 dollar range have carbs.. You can look though that site has a wide selection, I don't like how GrassCity has a drawn picture of their bongs you know what I'm sayin? I like to see the real thing

Thanks for the help. The only reason I don't like EDIT is because the conversion back to $ kinda screws me over.

I didn't know there were bong you could use both slider and the carb, I was just assuming that the slider was attached and I couldn't tell from the pictures when I saw bongs with carbs. I wonder why they make them with both?

either way I need to get out to a head shop. I'm only about three days from finishing up fixing my car though so it's almost there...

I also saw that there were alot of acrylics with sliders and they were all reasonably priced, but I've heard that alot of people hate them. I'll definitely consider those though because I suppose I don't mind much.

I don't know why they utilize carbs so much these days, but you can also just jab it with aluminum foil if you don't want 2 use it. n that black leaf looks hot especially for your budget, but they do have bullshit shipping and handling charges b/c its overseas

yeah $12 for shipping which brings it up to $52. but i had no idea about those carb stoppers so i'll keep that in mind while looking for bongs. If I can't find anything at a local headshop I might just go back and get this (but maybe try and find it on another site)

Can anyone tell if these are carb based or slide?

They look slide based to me, but I think I might see a carb on the back of the spiral twist one. but i'm pretty new to all water pipes though. For a while I thought that bong water was the worst smell ever due to a bad experience, so I avoided them. I've gotten over it now obviously.

You can tell that those are both probably carb since it has the black part keeping the slide in place.
