first and foremost i am wondering if a small crack will affect it in any way.... to better describe: it is not all the way through the glass, it is still completely waterproof and as far as i can tell solid.

second, does anyone know if there is a way to patch/fill it to prevent from further spreading or cracking?

Well in my experience it will not hurt it. There is a name for those kinds of cracks, but I can't remember it. Just be extra careful with it and it should be fine.

As far as fixing it. I don't know of any way. I mean it is IN the glass, so to get to it you would have to get IN the glass, so...ya know.

It should be fine, but to seal it use some non toxic silicone, a let it dry properly (not exactly sure how long, should say on the package) but make sure you get the good stuff, not the cheap-o dollar store stuff, I hear that sometimes they don't really work well.

will this stuff dry fairly clear? this water pipe of mine is literally brand new and i guess i want it to look as prestine as possible but i do want it to be fully functional.

* also i thought about an auto glass place... when my windshield cacked a little they just filledit with some "resin" stuff... but i have no idea if that would be safe and or if it is possible to buy haha just brainstorming i suppose.

Yeah, just make sure you buy the non-toxic clear dry type, if you do not want it to show, just put on the silicone how you want it in the crack, then just wipe off the excess with some thick paper such as a business card, if you do it right it shouldn't be noticeable.

OH! I read the post wrong. The crack is not in the glass, it just isn't on the interior. Sounds to me like more of a chip.

But what I would recommend doing is going to your local head shops and ask around for a glass blower that fixes pieces. Me and some friend's weren't even looking for one and happened upon one in a head shop in Atlanta.

Why go for a cheap fix if you can find a decent fix?

No problem, I would probably shit myself if there was a crack in my bong, or maybe not, I left a lighter and some stems on top beside my toothbrush for a full day and my mom went to go get my laundry and stuff and she didn't even see it so sometimes my parents surprise me...

Yeah, too bad I don't have understanding parents They just didn't see, I got caught for cigs which was kinda like whatever to them, but then they caught me for weed (well not really, i got snitched on both times) and then they were like "Wtf? Why are you doing drugs? I don't want this in my house! blah blah, etc."
