| Hey what's up. I've got a bong and it's pretty good, nothing special though. Here are the specs: just over 1 foot high with a bubble bottom with 3 inch diameter at its widest and a straight tube chamber with a ~1 inch diameter adapted slider stem with the following instead: 14.5mm diffuser stem in rubber flange from old slider stem with about a 10-15mm thing that goes in the bong and leads to its hole-not-slot end a fairly large glass-on-glass bowl w/steel or brass pipe screen It hits pretty smooth but it tends to over-fill with harsh smoke, even when hit softly. I tend to over-pack my bowls and come back to them later, as opposed to treating my bong like a 1-hitter. Sometimes, I fill the whole thing with ice, but when I do that, the hit tends to be harsher rather than smoother for unknown reasons (to myself, but not hopefully to some of you.) What I'm most interested in doing is giving it some sort of ice notching so I could put ice in the top without worrying about said ice taking up water volume in the bubble bottom chamber thing. The ideas I'm kicking around at the moment are pretty bad sounding, but they're a start. 1. A metal screen (the one off my herb grinder I decided to both remove and keep) attached in ???? way to the interior of my bong. 2. A bong extender with ice notches somehow made in it (ex: a soda can with the bottom cut off and the mouth piece at the mouth of my bong with the cut end as the mouthpiece. Ouch!) 3. A metal screen with arms that extend diagonally and curve over the rim of the mouth of the bong, hanging it in place to bear the weight of ice. This idea seems most practical if I knew what material to use and how to use said material without advanced skill sets or expensive machinery. Any help with making my bong better would be vastly appreciated. |

| Any good sized hardware store ought to have misc synthetic netting. Choose a type with the hole size that makes sense, take a length of it, insert it into the tube and then put the ice cubes in and allow the netted ice to drop down however far you like... ![]() .

| by God, you're a genius! Edit: in terms of attaching the netting to the outside of my bong to suspend the ice inside, what do you think the most long-lasting but not impractical method would be? Twine could work, since Ruthless Villain has the signature festival glass loopy hand-hold thing. I know duct tape is the obvious solution, but duct tape leaves nasty residue when it comes off, and that's nasty...

| I took the day off for numerous reasons, but I'll be taking a stroll over to the hardware store soon. Later today I can tell if your idea works, or rather how well it works. |
