If it's glass: make sure that you don't cool or heat your bong too fast

If it's not glass, or you have a way of slowly heating/cooling the water: You can use whatever water you want.

Cold water

-With ice or snow if you want.
-Makes for nice cool hits.
-Takes harshness away from the smoke.

Room Temperature Water
-Straight out of the tap.
-Reduced harshness of smoke.
IMO not as nice as cold water.

Hot water
BE CAREFUL USING HOT WATER IF YOU ARE USING A GLASS BONG. USE HOT WATER IF YOU WANT TO RISK BREAKING YOUR BONG.
However, if not using glass....
-Makes for nice steamy hits.
-The steaminess of the smoke adds moisture to the smoke, preventing coughing.

Yeah it is very unusual. I personally have never used hot water in a bong. I was repeating an experienced smoker's thoughts on hot water.

I could have written more, but I think most people can get a pretty good idea about what hot water in a bong is like. Steamy.

I wonder if thats why people sometimes smoke in the bathroom when its really steamy? Sense they inhale some steam and stuff?

everytime i smoke out of a bong i put ice in it to get smoother hits.

ive tried what your talking about cky. The person i did it with called it hawian(sp?) hot boxing.

i use hot water as often as cold water. it's really nice, especially in the winter! sit outside with the snow, have a mug of hot chocolate, and a nice steamy bong to puff on. *starts counting the months*
