I clean it after every session...why not?

Water doesn't build up resin, so you don't get 'higher' if you smoke out of old water. In fact, you probably get less high, because all the crap in the water blocks some of the smoke from getting to your mouth.

Don't know how many of you are frequent readers of high times, but a few months back they ran an article on a study that was performed on water. a man took water samples from beautiful places from all over the world, and frooze them. He then took more samples from ulgy parts of the world, and frooze them. looking solely at the water molecules (non of the other crap in the water) he noticed that the water from the nicer places had formed into perfect geometric shapes, while the ones from the ulgy places formed into oddly shaped figures. After seeing this, he tried a final expirment. He wrote words like "Love", and "Mother Teressa" on the bottoms of beakers of water. He also wrote words like " I hate you" and "Adolf Hitler" on other beakers. when water samples were taken, and frozen, the results were the same. The beakers with "Love" and "Mother Teresa" on them, had the geometric shaped water molecules, where as the water molecules from the beakers with "Hate" and "Adolf Hitler" formed into shapes similar to ones take from the ulgier places around the world. Before reading this I was an avid water changer... and since reading that, it only makes me want to change it more frequently....

The easiest way to take a hit is when the smoke is closest in characteristics to the air inside of your lungs. Including temperature, matter and what not.

A bong with normal water filters out water soluable carcinogens and dust, things like that. It also cools the air greatly. All of this is a good thing.

When you take hits from an iced bong it cools the air greatly so it almost feels totally normal if its done properly.

Also, if its possible and you have a multiple chamber bong you can add boiling water to the first chamber and ice water (I prefer ice with no water) to the second chamber. The boiling water adds moisture to the smokey mix and filters it. The ice cools the vaporous mix of just enough for it to be pleasant but not warm enough for the vaporized water to condense.

Change the bong water. Its actually possible (very hard to do but possible) to use the water so much it filter absolutely nothing. The water absorbs the molecules of 'bad stuff' and it just floats around. If the water reaches total saturation then it can no longer filter anything.
