The basic principle with a streamroller is that there isn't a "carb", just a huge hole that empties the chamber quickly.

Dry hitting a bong achieves the same thing, especially if it has a pull-carb, or in my case the bottom is missing

So, we can say that a steamroller is like a bong in that it has a large chamber that empties very quickly via a large rush of air. We can also say that a bong is nothing like a steamroller (especially those made from paper towel tubes and the like) because they do NOT have the capacity to hold water.

I guess it depends all on the vernacular.

alright sorry for bringing up a really old thread but is a bong still a bong with out water. i mean wouldnt it just be a really big pipe? would it still even be called a bong?

I've smoked a bong without water before because it got dropped and was cracked so you had to hold your hand over the crack while smoking. It's kind pointless it is basically a big pipe. But it's not like it doesn't work.

why does it matter for gods sake? We're discussing the defenition of the smoking aparatus that we use. This discusion goes against everything weed is about.

Just smoke it and stop worrying about what its called.

Interesting...dry-hitting a bong WITH the ice to cool the smoke down...That might actually be a fun experiment!!

My mom was telling me about when she does hotknives, she sticks two toothpicks in a papertowel tube and puts some ice in it. Apparently it works wonders. I think dry-hitting an ice bong would be similar.

i think it tottally defeats the purpose of having one, its just like smoking a bowl or something of that sort.

When I was in high school, every snowfall we'd head to the mountains for snowbonging. I grew up in Vegas so we had to go to Mt. Charleston for the snow. Always worth the trip. Frozen hits rule! Afterwords we'd go do donuts in the snow covered ski resort parking lot.

Always wanna use a plastic Graffix type , glass bongs break with the ice/heat combo if the stem gets hot enough.

but a bong without water is just a pipe, the whole point is to run the hit through water to catch heavy particles.
