Today I was playing a computer game called Counter-Strike, and these two guys were talking about chilling later and smoking some bud. But, they had a limited supply so I was like, when I'm low on weed, I take a few bong rips and get baked as hell. Bongs are definatly the way to go.

So then this other guy was like, No way, WATER BONGS are the way to go! I was like WTF a bong implies water...whats the point of a bong without water??? Then he goes on to tell me that he has heard of it before and so had his friend.

So I of course ask where he and his friend are from and he tells me Kentucky. So I poke fun about backwater southern country bumpkins, etc and they get all pissed off at me or whatever and leave.

So, my question to all of you is, have you ever heard of smoking a bong without water (I mean, if there is no water and it is all you have then yeah but I mean as a normal case to just smoke a bong without water)?

Also, if you do smoke a bong without water, please tell me what the point is. Why not just use a pipe or whatever.

P.S. No offense to any Kentuckyians, I was just joking at them.

my friends say they prefer it..i have no clue why..i think its stupid tho because it takes the point out of a bong...its just like a big pipe..

They were probably a couple twelve year olds who didn't know what they are talking about. You can smoke a bong without water if you really want, but no one does it, and no one calls a bong with water a water bong-it's just a bong.

they probably were new smokers.

we never kept water in the bong when i first started because bong water STINKS for days and you can smell it much longer than stale smoke in the house.

but now i have no worries, i have an ice tray where the cubes are for bong only!.

Uh... WNB... I usually smoked out of my bong with no water...

I did this for a few reasons. The bong with no water still functions as a big ass chamber. With no water, you naturally have more room for smoke. I also did this because hitting a bong with water makes much more noise, and since my parents didn't know I smoked at the time, I didn't need them knocking on the door asking me what all the bubbling water noise was. Also, the water DOES remove THC from the smoke, so in effect, you get higher by smoking without water. I never really cared about the harshness of the smoke, so putting water in there didn't really make sense for me in my situation. If you like cool smoke, then fill yer bong up, but if you wanna get higher, then just use it as a big chamber... I don't mean to sound like a dick, but I'm surprised you guys couldn't figure that out...

If your friend is already dead, and being eaten by vultures, I think it's okay to feed some bits of your friend to one of the vultures, to teach him to do some tricks. But only if you're serious about adopting the vulture.

Rusty Cage, what happened to your avatar? Anyway, there have been so many threads and discussions about bongs and THC that it's getting insane. These are the facts as I read them here: THC is not water solluble. Then some guy comes in and says that water does remove some THC, which prompts someond else to say that it removes trace amounts. Then someone else says that the material that ends up in the bong (little bits of ash and junk) contain THC which does not make it to your lungs. Then someone else points out that the water helps filter the smoke so that you can take bigger hits and get higher anyway. It always ends up that bongs will get you higher than pipes. Why not just use a pipe instead of a bong without water?

I've noticed that the less water used in a bong, the better/higher you get. I think this has somthing to do with the fact that the chamber is bigger...Most serious chronic smokers I know use as little water as possible in their bongs.

I usually try and experiment around...

I've hit a bong dry before. It was one of those acrylic bongs that has the hand grip and bent back design. The bottom cap was missing so we all used our hands to cover the bottom. It was basically like a big shotgunn pipe...

We always called it "dry hitting" when smoking without water in a bong.
