Does anyone actually smoke a bong out of a weird tube on the side instead of out the top? It doesn't make any sense.

maybe it goes like this:

bowl-->small pipe-->water in bong-->tube opening near top of a closed off bong-->thru pipe to side of bong-->to lungs

so basically....like a huge ass bubbler

I was thinking about this just yesterday. I'm guessing they did it because seeing a smiley float to the top of a bong and take a hit. It looks less stupid this way

I have a minibong that's basically an acrylic tube about 7" long with rubber caps on both ends. There are two holes in the top, one for a metal stem which has a rubber gasket to seal it in place. A standard metal pipe bowl screws onto the stem. The other hole is for a hose. The hose also has a rubber gasket to seal it up. The hose is about 14" long with a metal mouthpiece (or "nipple").

It hits like a champ!

I get it now, but that bong has 0 rubber gaskets and is not sealed on both ends, at least from what I can see. Maybe we should ask that thing which rolls sideways and has color changing eyes (or colour changing eyes for you Brits out there).
