What does being a newbie have to do with smoking an acrylic bong??? I'm lost.... the bigger the better, oh yea ,GLASS is the best but i loved my 2 ft. acrylic bong.

Damn.....12 breathes for a 20 in. bong? Was it your first time? i learned how to smoke out of an 18 in glass Graffix bong, and it NEVER took me more than2 breaths to clear, no matter how "milky" the hit was! Come to think of it, I don't think ANY bng I've ever smoked out of has required more than possibly 3 breaths to clear!

Don't be dissing on acrylic...They may not hit as hard as glass but the do have their advantages, such as:

1. Portability - I'm looking to buy a 18 inch or so that I can carry around in my backpack when I'm cruising with friends.
2. Cost - Let's face it, I'm not rich. I'd much rather spend $40 or less on a bong then spend the money I could be using for weed.
3. Durablilty - I'd bet that you could drop it off a roof and still smoke out of it... and as for glass, a fall of a table could be disasterous.

Acrylic bongs are only good if its 3'+.I've had my experiences with the plastics,and i know theyre way tough and all,they just dont hit as smooth as a nice glass piece.And who says you cant take a glass piece with you?I used to do it, take my zong out to the desert and get faded out there.Sucks that broke (not from taking it out either), was a waaay tough bong.I musta knocked that thing off the counter like 50 times and it never broke or spilled.

Personally, while I can see the advantages you mentioned, i'd still go with glass. First of all, my best friend had a sweet dual chambered acrylic bong that only lasted a couple of years. it began to crack around the stem, from cleaning it. A glass bong wouldn't have this problem. Secondly, yes, a plastic bong would be cheaper, but I take a certain pride in the pieces I own. I'd rather spend a little more on a bong that is unique, as opposed to a mass-produced plastic tube. A nice glass bong is a piece of art, not merely a utensil for smoking. Also, an acrylic bong is going to affect the taste of the smoke, where as glass bong doesn't have this problem. AS for portability, the material from which a bong is made doesn't really affect how portable it is. You said it will be in your backpack. They make special padded containers for bongs that would fit your backpack easily. if you didnt want to spend the extra money on a pouch for it, just wrap it up in a sweatshirt or something, and just be sure not to toss your backpack around. As for the money being better spent on weed.....well, that bag of weed is GONE when its gone....a prooperly cared for bong can last a lifetime. Which would you rather have?

Well, if its some super sticky uber dank crystal nug weed,ill take that, can always get a glass bong later on . And he's right about the plastic cracking.I got my dealers old 3 footer for free and it was all cracked at the bottom, cant use it anymore cuz of the air leaks.Tried everything to stop em, but the cracks just kept spreading.Only way thatll happen with glass is if you drop it on concrete,linoleum, or something else hard.Caprted floors dont break bongs (in my experience anyways).

BTW, anyone know where to get a super thick downstem?Like i think its 1/8" maybe fatter, and it broke.Local headshop doesnt sell ones fat like that either.(Seriously its the fattest downstem i've seen in my life)

not to sound harsh or anything, but...............

as a general rule of thumb: you cant sell a bong if its in more then fifteen peices.

acrylic may crack from cleaning, but proper care mean less cleaning, and cracking is still usually better then shattering.

yes, acrylic may not be as good as glass, but if your on a budget, it can be easier.

and as for the looks, at this price difference, looks fall far behind
