Alright, this seems like an informed place, so I gotta ask you guys; are bamboo bongs what they're cracked up to be?
The site I plan on making some purchases from describes them as giving nice, clean, powerful hits... can anyone back this up? I'm a bit worried about buying one, and would rather a glass one... but I must say a bamboo peice would be really nice.

Any info would be cool.

The material that the chamber is made out of has little effect on how your bong hits. The chamber is merly a means of containing the smoke. Its the bowl and orientation of the stem within the chamber that will really make the difference.

Take 3 bongs all with the exact same design (and the exact same bowl and stem material) with the exception of the materials used to make the chamber, and if you were to hit each one back to back, I doubt you would notice much.

EDIT: But yea, if its a good design, and has a good bowl/stem, then go for it. Bamboo is very cool looking.

i'd say that the material is simply for ascetics (sp). The quality and how well they smoke is just a matter of good construction. But bamboo is very pretty, so go for it.
