Seems that from what I've been reading, everyone is absolutely in love with EDIT, but their prices aren't even comparable to other websites around, namely art-pipes.com and bolinat.com. From what I've read, art-pipes has slowed in their delivery time substantially (and their website has been offline for over 2 weeks, and is reopening tomorrow).

Basically, it boils down to this. I'm a college student on a very limited budget (hoping for $40 tops, but I can scrape $50) and am looking to get a fairly large bong, as I HATE getting bongwater on my goddamn lips. I was hoping to get something in the 11-12" area.

Well, I was looking for feedback on both of those websites listed above. If I order, am I just going to get my $50 stolen by some Columbian Cartel or something? Ordering online is a bit sketchy it seems, but my local headshop wants $45 for a 6" acrilic bong (College town) and I absolutely do not want anything acrilic.

Anyways, any suggestions would be very helpful and appreciated.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions for head shops that give good deals in either the Detroit area, or anywhere in between Detroit and Mount Pleasant (Ann Arbor, Lansing, Saginaw, etc...) I'd be able to travel to check them out. I'm basically looking for a deal here.

it going to be tough to find a 12" glass bong for only 50$.

We i was gonna recommned getting a 2-3ft. acrylic bong for like 35$. For anyone who has never owned a bong before, your absolute best options is to go for the 3 ft acrylic bong. 1. you've never had to care for a bong before, this will help you learn the ropes. 2. you wont spend a 50$+ for a 6inch glass bong and when it breaks your not sol. 3.The bong is 36" its great practice for taking monster rips and being able to clear anyones bong. Unless its a moster glass bong

I view buying a peice like anything else, you have to gain a respect for it and start low and work your way up.

Couldn't you get an acrylic bong, and like a glass ash-catcher or something? You'd think that'd be a nice little glass-tasting, harder hitting piece for cheap.

Both of those websites have 11-12" bongs for under $50, which is why I asked about them.

I have no idea, but you can go to weedcity.com and get a good acrylic bong for $50. It'd probably be a lot higher quality than a cheap glass piece too, I think.

Then later, save up $20 and get a Molino glass ash-catcher and $10-20 diffuser, and there you go. Glass taste, hard hit, low price. It'd probably all total $75, and the $50 acrylic would work perfectly until you got the extra $25. That's what I would do.

The only problem with those websites is shipping is normally at least another $10, take that into consideration. Not sure why I'd want to spend so much on an acrylic when the websites I mentioned above have comprable prices with glass bongs of the same size.

Yeah, but you have to think about quality also. What quality glass do you think you get for $50, when the average glass piece costs about $200?

You'd get a much higher quality smoke from a reasonable acrylic piece than from cheap glass, IMO. Plus you'd be less likely to break it, cuz $50 definitely isn't gonna get you 5mm Pyrex. ;-)

But I'm just suggesting what I'd do, you probably have different ideas and besides, it's your bong, not mine. But if I were choosing, and glass was what I wanted, I'd go with that 12" straight up from art-pipes. I was actually looking at that one a couple months ago when I was looking for a glass piece. 12" high, pretty good sized chamber from the looks, plus it's ready for ice, which is a plus.. Usually you won't find lower priced glass bongs with ice notches. Headshop prices here are fuckin outrageous, so most my stuff besides spoons and grinders is online.

So have you purchased from art-pipes before? Good experience?

Edit: I'm not all that concerned about breaking it. I'm pretty sure that I've never dropped my spoon before, and certainly don't plan on putting my bong through a washer or something. Is there more to having thick glass than just durability?

Not really. Maybe if you put it in the fridge it stays colder longer.

At my local head shop in LA County I got a great looking two-foot glass bong for $46. I think it was a great purchase and it hits wonderfully. It all depends on where your at, but the mini bong I got from art-pipes was great but the bongs are smalle than they appear on the site.
